We called this company because our air conditioner was not cooling. The first technician said we needed a leak detection test since the system was low on refrigerant, and that we would receive a quote for the repair afterwards. They performed the test but could not pinpoint a leak, and still charged us over $550 for the diagnostic test and refrigerant recharge. We never received a repair quote, and the system still did not cool properly after that service.
I complained and asked for a refund for the test since no leak was identified and no repair quote was given. The next day, the owner came out. He said the condenser coil was dirty, then told us he found the leak and gave us a $1,600 estimate to repair it. We decided to wait on that repair.
After that visit, the house finally cooled, but within a few days our basement flooded. My husband investigated and discovered that the technician had failed to replace the drain pan access cover. Because of that, the condensate from the evaporator coil overflowed and caused major water damage, buckling the flooring in our basement bathroom and hallway.
In the end, we were charged hundreds of dollars for a test and refrigerant that did not resolve the problem, given inconsistent information about the leak, and left with new water damage due to poor...
Read moreI worked with Tanner, Thomas, and Jalen to get a new Trane XR14 system purchased and installed.
I have to say that when I had other competitors come out and price a new system, they always spoke highly of Mountain Air. I wasn't really sure what that meant but you could tell they were respected. Now, I know why.
Working with Tanner on the system I needed and the financing was extremely easy, to the point, and he didn't try to put me in something I didn't need. He was honest and upfront from the very beginning. He even came out to check on the guys and make sure I was happy during the install. Very surprised by that (in a good way).
Jalen and Thomas came out to the house for the install. They worked all-day, on a Friday, to make sure the system was installed and working properly. They also ran into an issue with the outside unit and let me know a Trane rep would have to come out and take care of it; probably within a week or two and someone would call me to get it scheduled. To my surprise, the guys (Jalen and Thomas) showed up at 8:30am the following Monday to get it handled. That's exactly why other competitors speak highly of them, guaranteed.
Overall, 10 out...
Read moreI called on a Saturday to see if I could buy a capacitor from them, I was told they don’t sale parts. I asked what they charge to come out and replace the capacitor, Chad told me the weekend rate is $119.00. I agreed and ask them to come out. The technician showed up in a timely manner and was very polite. It took him 10 minutes to check the capacitor and told me that’s what it is. So he replaced it and told my bill was $352.00. I told him that Chad told me it was $119.00 plus parts. The technician said that is correct. I asked what was he charging for the capacitor? He told me $233.00. A capacitor is $20 bucks, I know businesses need to make money and I want them to be successful and even marking up a part 30-100% is not out of line. I would have been fine with that. I appreciate the time and money they spend to learn their craft but marking up parts 1100% is gouging the customer. I had him take the new part off and paid him the $119.00. No A/C through the weekend, but we will make it. I will pick up a capacitor on Monday from Lock supply and install...
