Coming from a design and retail background in Portland, I was all too aware of the limitations of trying to merge fashion, fit, and affordability when shopping for new furniture in a small town. After hours and hours of online shopping for style, specs, service, and price, and a trip to 'the big city' of Eugene to sit test, I was crossing my fingers as I visited a couple of local retailers; the service was adequate, but I wasn't impressed. Clearly, I had high expectations.
I had chosen my manufacturer, style, fabric and features before I stopped at Rife's, truly expecting to rule them out also before booking a trip to Portland. What a pleasant surprise! I found a sales team that was cooperative and customer-centric. I was glad to be able to buy local from a retailer who carried the PNW manufacturer with a solid reputation that I wanted. I was particularly thankful for a complete fabric library that I could take home and try, just to make sure my first impression was correct.
When Diane greeted me, we immediately struck up a genuine rapport and I knew right away that I wanted to buy from her. She was helpful and professional-- very knowledgeable and personable without falling into the trap of being a pushy salesperson. I explained that I needed to find this particular frame --The Only One that would fit in my space and meet my style standards--so my husband could try before buying and she volunteered to call the company directly to locate it because it wasn't shown on their sales floor. More importantly, she followed through with her offer and kept me in the communication loop with regular and timely messages. In my subsequent visits to the store as I was swapping out fabric samples, I found the store clean and neat (though a bit dark for my taste), and her colleagues polite and helpful as well.
After my chosen small-scale power reclining loveseat got the thumbs up from my husband, and 95% of the 'work' was done, it was simply a matter of finishing the transaction and getting our piece ordered. Diane explained the warranties, lead time and delivery procedures thoroughly. I appreciated the Veterans' discount, something I've come to ask for out of habit since I moved to Roseburg. After living with our old uncomfortable loveseat for over 6 years, our Labor Day ETA couldn't come fast enough.
Imagine my surprise when I got the message that my loveseat was IN in 6 weeks instead of 16!! Talk about underpromise and overdeliver! I had just requested that Diane check on the availability of a fabric swatch; that arrived quickly in the mail as a full piece instead of a small scrap. This was indeed pleasant serendipity.
Delivery was scheduled for three days out -- perfect timing with a 3 hr window on my husband's day off. While our delivery team did forget to call us from their previous stop to narrow our ETA time window, the guys were both so polite and conscientious that I'd overlook that minor mishap. I was up and awake extra early anyway.
Well, our new piece is FABULOUS. It is exactly what we wanted for a fair price with features that make our movie nights (and daytime naps) so much more comfortable. I would not hesitate to visit Diane at Rife's if I'm ever in need of new furniture in...
Read moreThey do not stand by their warranty one bit. My son who is disabled bought his chair from them. We were told the frame work and mechanism was life tim warranty. After a few months the handle to recliner snapped because it was hard to recline. Called to have the service tech come look at it. Chair looks perfect but they say it broke from mis use. You can this ally see that it is a manufacturer defect. A piece of wood broke from being drilled off center. 500lb rated chair and it broke right away. Paid over 1000 dollars for a chair rated for heavier perso and it's complete trash. The manufacturer won't stand by it and neither will rifes. They blame the manufacturer warranty service for not fixing it but yet they push the product from the rifes stores. You think they would stand by what they sale. This chair has never been miss used it's still new. My son is special needs and fully disabled. They can take his money but not stand by what they sell. I'll never step foot in another rifes store again. Also the service department, good luck on them showing up when they scheduled the appointment. Then trying to communicate, they will ignore you and not call you back to let you know the status of your claim. Even better I contact the roseburg store and for months I get parts are on order. Now i get the chair was miss used is why it broke. Adult owned and used never miss used. If you want to throw away over a 1000 on a chair and get the shaft shop at rifes. Place is a...
Read moreWhen we relocated to Oregon from Montana, this last summer, we came without a piece of furniture. After looking at the area furniture sellers I landed on Rife's due to the number of positive reviews, and the fact that is a locally owned and operated operation, versus a large chain (hint: starts with an "A"). I was pleased with the entire experience. As soon as we entered the store we were greeted by Diane, who is just a wonderful, low-pressure salesperson. She verified all the pieces we selected were in stock and got us set up for delivery super quick. The selection options fit our style and budget, and the quality of the items is fantastic. As luck would have it, we recently moved into a larger home and required some more furniture pieces. It was a given we were heading back to Rife's to see Diane. Once again, she confirmed the availability of our selections and has us on the delivery schedule within a matter of days. I can't say enough good things about Rife's, as while furniture shopping can be fun it is a substantial cost for a house full of items, and they offer great selections at great prices. Furniture prices are up everywhere, but Rife's still offers great prices and markdowns on many items. Put your mind at ease and head to Rife's! Ask for Diane, as she is a breeze...
