Oh my, Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval! When my daughter finished grad school and moved to St. Paul last fall, she decided to join a speed skating club and rent skates for the winter at a place I had never heard of, let alone been to, The Oval in Roseville. Last night, she invited me to watch her race for the first time. Such joy watching all the age groups compete. Great energy, including all the kiddies. The OVAL is a unique outdoor recreation facility with 110,000 square feet of refrigerated ice with a 400 meter speed skating track surrounding an infield used for hockey and bandy. The OVAL acts as one of the premiere speedskating venues in North America hosting a number of competitions each year. I bow my head and let the wonder in....
Read morea decent skate park but if you are wanting to skateboard they treat you like fairly bad overall. they constantly remove ramps for no reason and the rail disappeared today. it’s entirely prefab and they lose an obstacle every year because apparently the rollerbladers complain that they don’t have enough space. i know this because not only have multiple skaters told me the same thing but someone i know who works their told me this to. well the oval is one of the biggest parks by land in the country and the ramps take up a fraction of it. if they kept the ramps their it would be...
