VFW — Restaurant in Roseville

This is the favorite VFW for my grandparents, who live nearby in the Eagle Crest senior living facility. My grandfather is a veteran and takes great pride in being a part of the community at the VFW, also appreciating the activities offered, particularly cribbage. This location also features Red's Savoy Pizza, which is high quality local pizza with a variety of toppings and specials. We have often ordered this for get-togethers, either as take-out or delivery.

We came here the other night for my first time actually eating a sit-down dinner here. The staff were quick to seat and serve us, and the food certainly quickly as well. Tuesday was taco night, so my grandfather took advantage of that, while my grandmother and I ordered the Walleye Sandwich. There were plenty of toppings available for the tacos at a serve-yourself bar, and the sandwiches were crispy and flavorful. I ordered onion rings with my sandwich, which were generous and enjoyable. My grandmother ordered a salad, and enjoyed it as well.

I came here once to meet up with some fellow vets who go there often, but I really enjoyed it. The service was great, I liked being around the good company, and even though we lingered for hours and not many of us ordered much more besides a beer or a soda, we felt very welcomed and comfortable to stay and chat. I know non-military families who frequent this place and rave about the pizza. The prices are really fair. There are not too many places you can get a decent meal for under $10. They do a lot of family-friendly community events too.

One side note, we are going to be really sad to lose this place, since the city council decided it was more important to use this property and destroy Veterans park to build a warehouse. Being a suburb, Roseville can often feel a bit devoid of a community gathering space. There's not a real downtown, except for this little spot around the Oval, city center and the VFW. My family met here to have dinner and go over our families upcoming funeral details. My son and his friend and our aunt was there first. They all ordered water as they waited for the rest of us to join and were all greeted with a huff and a puff attitude over water!!! I wouldn't say our waitress was mean but her attitude wasn't the best. My sons food took about another 20 minutes before it even came out! My brother in law had his food taken away before he was even done with it and to make it worse as we were going through pictures we had the lights cut way down to very dim on us and it wasn't even 9pm yet!
