Perrysburg Animal Hospital — The Clinic That Killed My Dog and Nearly Killed My Puppy
On April 24, 2025, my world shattered when I brought my 8-year-old licensed service dog, Ziba, to Perrysburg Animal Hospital. She had just turned 8 days prior. That morning, I expressed concern about her labored breathing and weakness. I provided a full summary of her history prior to the visit. Ziba was never examined by a veterinarian that day. No one put hands on her. I was told by a technician, not a doctor, that Ziba was “full of hemangiosarcoma” — a devastating diagnosis presented to me with 100% certainty, despite the fact that no biopsy or definitive proof was ever provided.
Because I was told they were absolutely sure she was filled with cancer, I had no reason to ask for specific diagnostics. I was devastated, grieving, and afraid — and they never offered diagnostics. I never even spoke to a veterinarian. I trusted them, and I was led to believe I had no choice but to euthanize my dog right there and then.
A technician — not a doctor — performed the euthanasia in an exam room. This was my licensed service dog, and they didn’t even let a vet speak to me. They let a tech perform the euthanasia on a misdiagnosed, unexamined animal.
I now know that the actual radiology report — which I paid for to be read stat — never said the word cancer. It only mentioned cardiomegaly and possible lung nodules, both of which were listed as suspicious, not definitive. The bloodwork, which I now have copies of, also showed none of the markers typically associated with cancer.
But I am not a veterinarian. I had no way of knowing I was being misled. I trusted the clinic in my most vulnerable moment. I trusted them with my soul dog’s life. And they killed her — without a physical exam, without offering options, and without compassion.
Weeks later, I learned the truth — and I will live with that trauma for the rest of my life.
But it didn’t end there.
On July 10, 2025, I brought in my new 5-month-old puppy, for urgent urinary symptoms. I was charged $75 for an emergency exam, and the doctor never touched her. No exam. No urinalysis. Just a guess and a 10-day round of antibiotics. A month later, she still had symptoms, and I returned begging for proper care. I was refused access to a doctor, even by phone — after paying over $1500 to this clinic for my puppy alone. They nearly failed my puppy the same way they failed Ziba. This is why I started looking into how and why my dog Ziba was euthanized. I lost all trust.
This is a clinic that: • Killed my service dog based on a technician’s word and false certainty • Never offered diagnostics because they claimed to be 100% sure it was cancer • Allowed a technician, not a vet, to euthanize my licensed service dog • Failed to chart properly, gaslighted me repeatedly, and dismissed my grief • Charged me for a CT scan on my cat Roman that was never documented (the only refund I ever received) • Refused to examine my puppy, then nearly under-treated a growing infection • Banned me as a client after I began asking hard questions and demanding accountability
Even after being shown the evidence, they deny all responsibility, showing no remorse, no accountability, and no interest in improving their care. Their final response was cold, defensive, and deeply disrespectful. They simply refunded one charge and terminated the relationship.
This clinic is dangerous. Their communication is dismissive. Their recordkeeping is incomplete. Their technicians step far outside their scope. And if you challenge them, they will retaliate.
I lost my heart dog because of this clinic. I nearly lost my new puppy. And I will never forgive them for what they’ve done.
Do not take your animals to Perrysburg Animal Hospital. If I can prevent even one person from experiencing what I did, Ziba’s death won’t be in vain.
You blocked me on FB, after I posted this same review there. You clearly know you’re in the wrong and I have voice recordings, copies of emails...
Read moreMy cat had urinary problems, and being new to the area I trusted the reviews to bring him to Perrysburg Animal Care. On the way to finding out he had an obstruction, when I called to have him seen, Taylor assured me that they would allow me to make payments due to the cost of his procedure being a lot more money than what most people have readily available. I just wanted my baby to feel better, and I knew his life was in danger because he couldn't urinate. Again, while he was in the exam room, I was told they'd allow me to do a payment plan to get him better. I was thinking these guys are amazing and they really do care about our pets, because posted in several locations are signs that they do not take payments. Then the veterinarian came in and wrote up an estimate and the story changed. Now they weren't willing to allow payments due to the cost of what he needed. My cat was laying there on the table, dazed because he was in so much pain. They told me I could try to get financing for his procedure or surrender ownership of him to them. Those were my choices. They gave me no time to even try to find a resource, as they refused to even give him anything to help alleviate him until they either had money in their hands or a signed paper stating I was signing off as his "owner". They don't care about our pets; they care about the money. They had two staff people for that one incident bold face lie to me because I told them I didn't have the money available to me in a lump sum. So get a family's hopes up for their pet to be okay by lying to them? Or does the staff really not know what's going on because the communication is so bad within the business? There was no compassion, only money hungry liars who wouldn't even give me a chance to come up with the money. They let my cat lay there in pain, knowing I'd have to sign him over because, unlike them, I wasn't willing to let him lay there suffering. They wouldn't even tell me how he was doing when I called to check on him. They want to promote forever families for pets, yet places like this tear such forever families apart. They sent him to a rescue (who paid for it) where he'll end up being adopted out to yet another family, and ironically they told me a lot of his issues were stress-related. I had adopted him from a shelter elsewhere, where they also stressed he seemed to have anxiety, so how are they helping our pets by these kinds of practices? I had every intention of having him in my family for the rest of his life. I wish I could put it all down here, but I have no doubt Perrysburg Animal Care will never see me or any of my pets again, and I'm doing my best to share my experience with anyone who could ever possibly take their pets there. The "rich" people who take their pets there will never grasp what I'm saying, but they're the ideal customers to Perrysburg Animal Care. I miss my...
Read moreI brought my ferret in because he wasn't able to use the bathroom. After having to come up with $150 for them to even see him, they found that he had bladder stones and required emergency surgery. The vet said that he could have possible kidney damage from how serious the stones were, and they would have to retest his kidney levels the next day. They DID NOT do the test and sent him home the next day. I watched him for the next week to see if he was using the bathroom, which he was, but he was only urinating. I also noticed that he was drinking a lot of water, but wasn't eating. I ended up having to take him to the Toledo office to put him on an IV again. 2 days later I was called and told he wasn't improving. Needless to say, I had to put my ferret down after all of that. I spent over $2200 and he suffered for a whole week. To add insult to injury, the Perrysburg office sent me a reminder text for his followup appointment to be checked and have his stitches removed. If you have an exotic animal vet that has seen an animal in 2 different offices, you would think that they would communicate with the other office when a patient they have has died. I feel like this vet knew he was gonna die, and did all these unnecessary things to him to get extra money. If i would have known that the surgery wasn't going to save him, i would have never put him thru all of that. Now not only have I lost my emotional support pet, but I am out $2200. I will never take any of my pets to this place again!!!!!!
My response to your response is..... Nothing you say can make up for the fact that you DID NOT run the follow up test on his kidney levels the day after his surgery, you sent him home. If you would have run the tests he needed you would have known he wasn't ready to go home. You sent him home with $500 of medication that didn't help him AT ALL! He suffered unnecessarily for a whole week! I spoke with your office and I told you I was concerned he wasn't eating, the best you could give me was to take him to MedVet. When the Vet called, I was told to take him to Toledo to be seen there. SO sorry, not sorry. I will take my animals to another vet thanks.
And this next part is for Toledo, when you went to Euthanize him and it didn't work because his IV fell out, i wonder why he wasnt getting any better!!! and $250 to cremate a pet that only weighs a pound and a half is ridiculous. I took him somewhere else to have it...
