My husband surprised me with a setting at Christmas. We went together to pick out the details. I am not a fan of round diamonds. I wanted the band portion to match my wedding band. Simple square stones with invisible setting. Salesman, Matt, stated no jeweler makes the invisible seeing anymore. Not true, "Miners Den" doesn't do it, others still do. He showed us a band that appeared to have an invisible setting, it has round stones, but they appeared square. Husband picked the solitaires, I selected that band Matt showed us. I was very clear, if you can make that exact band to go with what my husband picked out we are good to go. Matt took notes, including the reference ring with the band I wanted. While waiting for the CAD drawings and then the mold we went back 2-3x just to make sure the band was what I wanted. We were assured the jeweler had clear instructions. When the ring was finally finished I was surprised that band was not what we had selected, the stones are clearly round, the prongs holding them in are large. We were told the jeweler decided what I wanted wouldn't work, the stones husband picked were bigger than what was on the reference band, so the jeweler made this instead. Salespeople Matt and Natalie want to make it right. I was given 3 options, redo the band with small square diamonds with a thick band (not a fan of thick side rail, option 2 smaller round diamonds and smaller prongs or options 3 leave it as is. I am not a materialistic person, this whole experience has my stomach in knots, there are larger problems in life than this. Continuing to go back and forth makes me feel petty. I feel bad my husband had this whole thing planned to go a different way. From a consumer perspective it is bad business to do something different than what the customer explicitly wanted/paid for. Especially with jewelry. If it wasn't going to be the way we wanted it, then a simple call, prior to making it, to explain that and options...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEDIT- if youād like to see how amazing our project came out, it ended up as a giant promo photo on the side of their store! Itās the antique style ring with the purple sapphire surrounded by white diamonds!* I had no idea what I was doing when it came to buying jewelry, let alone an engagement ring. I was feeling pretty defeated after visiting a few jewelry stores. The salespeople seemed predatory and the prices were crazy. Not only that, but I couldnāt find a ring that really felt connected to. After a recommendation (from an entire city!) I decided to check out The Minerās Den. The first thing I noticed was how welcoming and nice the people here are. No pressure, just happy and helpful. I looked for a while and then decided I needed some help. The person I ended up speaking with was Norman. He took me in to the consultation room and taught me a bit about precious stones and jewelry so I could make informed decisions. He made me so comfortable with the process that I decided Iād like to be involved in the design, making a one of a kind piece. After a couple of visits they found the perfect stone for me, I gave them the design and it was off to the races. They stayed in touch me with through the whole process and when the wax mold was finished I came in to give it a once over and gave them the go ahead. The mold was gorgeous and I was confident that the ring would be something special but I had no idea just how gorgeous it would be. I picked it up yesterday and am still absolutely blown away by it. Everyone there was so excited for us and it really felt like a family affair. I canāt recommend The Minerās Den enough. They have another life-long customer in me, and my partner will have the perfect engagement ring. A huge thank you to everyone at The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMinerās Den has been my āgo toā jeweler for decades; whether it was a special gift for a friend or loved one, a repair, an appraisal, a new pair of earrings I couldnāt live without (at all price points), or just when Iām in the area to stop in and see whatās new, or to have a look at their estate pieces. Youāre always greeted when you walk in. They never hover over you but they are always available for and welcome your questions and concerns. Most recently, I took my late motherās wedding ring in to have the diamond removed and reset in a beautiful white gold single stud earring for myself. The price they quoted me was very reasonable, and yet, when I picked it up, they told me the estimate they gave me was a little on the high side. I almost fell over when they showed me reduction in price! What jewelry store does that? This one does. Their work is simply beautiful, top notch, priced fairly and there is something in their beautiful store for everyone (even my grandkids who love rocks), and again, there is something for everyone at many price points. You never feel intimidated when you walk in their, like with some jewelry stores. If you havenāt been there, you are missing out. Lovely store, lovely items, lovely people, conveniently located in Royal Oak, without the congestion of downtown....
