I would never trust this place with my medical care. I went in for a Covid test with my right arm in a cast. The nurse wanted me to do the test on myself, with my arm in a cast. They wrote in my assessment that I was "taken aback" when I was asked to give the test to myself. The nurse did not explain the difference between the nasal swab test and nasopharyngeal swab test, which goes deeper into the nasopharynx, and the only type of test I've had in the past. (I later asked for and received an explanation from the nurse manager who doubles as the office manager.) The nurse said about the nasal swab test, "This is the way we do it now." I had just come from wrist surgery in New York City and the only type of Covid test they give in New York Langone Hospital (which was required for surgery) is the nasopharyngeal swab test. So the editorial "we" she was referring to is the Bethel Health Center. It is not the standard of care. The Bethel Health Center is incapable of giving the nasopharyngeal swab test, which must be done by a trained professional. The nurse and the nurse manager were also so unobservant that they never even noticed that my arm...
Read moreI can't possibly say enough good about the Bethel Health Center and Dr. Coombs. From the start, I was welcomed and enjoyed care from a doctor who made the time to chat with me about health concerns and beyond. Listening is clearly a priority for them. And ALSO, the office and Dr. Coombs have gone out of their way to craft an LGBT-safe area that delivers critical care to those who are sometimes fearful or embarrassed in a traditional healthcare setting. Amazing. From the bottom of my heart, thank you BHC, Dr. Coombs, brilliant nurses, and all the wonderful staff I've spoken over the last...
Read moreThey do not have enough physicians. The majority of them have retired and no new PCPs are moving to this area. They had to reschedule a yearly checkup for 300 days from now, after I was unable to make the last yearly checkup that I had to cancel over a month in advance. My last "Yearly Checkup" I was now over 15 months ago. The Staff are overworked, they can't do anything. It's going to create apathy eventually and then it's just not possible to stay healthy here. This is...
