We started considering getting a hot tub recently and began our search for a model and retailer we liked and felt we could trust. There are so many great hot tub brands out there to choose from that all seem to be a variation on a theme and it was tough to know which to go with. The more research I did, the more it became apparent to ensure you bought from a reputable, local dealer that offered great service start to finish and after the fact. We visited several local, well-known showrooms and all were very different. We found most were small shops with limited offerings, few on-floor examples and less-than-knowledgeable sales staff. Then we went into the Mainely Tubs showroom in Rye, NH and met Tim. The first thing that strikes you when you walk into a Mainely Tubs showroom is that it's large, bright and packed full of dozens of hot tub and spa models to choose from. The second thing we noticed was the laid back vibe of everything and everyone in the place. We worked with Tim who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly in a professional and non-pressure-sales manner. Since Mainely Tubs is an employee-owned company (something we really like), their sales staff does not work on commission so there was no pressure, only information and options. We were all but settled on another tub at another dealership but within a half hour we were now considering a tub from Mainely Tubs.
We are the type of people that do a TON of research and will make many trips. An online deep-dive on Mainely Tubs and the brands they sell - Hot Springs and Caldera - quickly confirmed this was the place we wanted to buy from. Then we ran into our first problem - too many choices! Unlike other hot tub dealerships where you only had a few models to choose from and actually see in person, there was just about the entire line of both Hot Springs and Caldera and a few other choices displayed on the floor. We had several favorites after the first visit. After more online research and a second visit we had it narrowed it down to just a couple. But we wanted to test them out with a wet test. Mainely Tubs has a very nice 'wet test' room where they have a few demo models ready to test. It's a large, closed room with a separate changing room that allows for some modesty and privacy while you test. And they leave you alone the entire time to really put all models through their paces. It didn't take long for us to decide which brand we preferred (Caldera!). So then it was just a matter of deciding which one. The one we were initially leaning towards (the Martinique) was a great tub but after the wet test we realized we needed a slightly larger model with a few more jets and more power which pointed us to the Seychelles. Tim found us one that was already on order and in transit with the features and colors we wanted so we would only have to wait a few weeks instead of a few months. And talk about service? We got there late, near closing, with no appointment for a wet test made in advance. Tim made several phone calls to reschedule a personal family event so he could stay and happily and helpfully answer yet more questions and help us finalize our purchase.
So as of right now, this business gets a full five stars. Once the tub arrives and is set up and running, I'll update this review but if that process is anything like our buying experience, I have no doubt that we'll be...
Read moreMixed review originally . Day of delivery last October. Was first delivery of the day. Got the minimal instruction on the use of the chemicals. Person from Mainly Tubs was supposed to come back after electrician hooked up the hot tub and tub was filled. Never came back. Had two nozzles break off, on their own back in October and November. Totally understood that the oncoming winter made it impossible to fix. However conveyed to me once the weather got better they would be fixed. Now it’s July, still not fixed ( haven’t heard anything from Mainly Tubs, was also told that this was a problem with this particular hot tub, that’s reassuring). Signed up for the bimonthly service plan, it’s over now, no issues there. Service technician was a hard working, honest guy. Calling into Mainly Tubs is impossible, always get a recording. For the most part everyone is pretty friendly on the phone. Went to the store directly in December, seemed everyone was quite preoccupied was somewhat disappointed. Spent a small fortune (not wealthy by any stretch) on the tub/chemicals/service, feel like a number, definitely not a loyal customer. I’m glad that Mainly Tubs is doing so well and advertising on TV. Mainly Tubs may need to step back and get back to what got them to this lofty status in the first place. Got through spoke to Liz. Everything was clarified and problems fixed. They do care about...
Read moreDuring the recent arctic cold snap , on the weekend , I had an issue with my hot tub. My heater gasket gave out , started leaking and it went into Protection mode. I went into panic mode, thinking my investment would be destroyed by the cold. I called the service Dept sat morning , the dispatcher emailed me a link of what to do in this scenario. I followed the instructions on the link, and also received a call from the service tech who was on call, and he assisted to make sure the tub would be safe until they had a chance to come on site. He called me a couple times to check in that day to make sure things were alright. I was now confident we could wait until Monday with the guidance they gave and the temps would then be in the 30’s. The tech arrived Monday morning replaced the part , called me to let me know it was back on line , and good to go. The group that assisted did a fantastic job with getting the problem solved , and talking me off the ledge. When it’s -40 with the wind chill, and your tub stops working, you can count on the Mainely Tubs crew to make sure your expensive investment will be operational when it’s over. Thanks again to the guys manning the phones ,the on call the tech, and the tech who came out to fix the issue. 👍🏻👍🏻. ** And to anyone reading this , ask ahead of time, of what to do if this happens to you , so you will be prepared. Well...
