FINAL DESIGN Kitchen / Bath — Local services in Saint Joseph

I can not recommend Final Design on any aspect. They failed to show any creativity or guidance in the design process (including no mention or discussion of backsplash, light fixtures, etc), had almost nothing to say or show aside from what the computer program could generate, and after a handful of what I'd call "visual errors" or oversights in the computer rendering--provided an estimate way over-the-top (i.e. nearly $300k--and that did NOT include new appliances).  For comparison, I then found a different local designer resource, paid the same retainer amount ($1500), and was very impressed with multiple professional CAD drawings and a well-organized step-by-step process that covered every aspect with confident and creative design input and guidance. There was just no comparison--the services were as different as night and day. Unless you're simply looking for a row of cabinets, I'd look elsewhere. (And if you ARE just looking for a row of cabinets, you would probably do better at Home Depot.) We love our house. It is a renovation of existing space designed by Erin Bennett. She has a remarkable sense of space from a users perspective as well as architecture and design. We made no changes to the basic footprint. But the elimination of a useless closet, the building of a small wall, the coaxing of a few more inches in the shower space, the lowering of a wall made the house live and feel completely changed. Erin's intuitive use of color is equally remarkable. You want white? You will get the one and only perfect white for you. Her style is your style. Think you don't know your style...she'll help you find it. She does all of this with intelligence, respect, knowledge of her craft. The kitchen and baths turned out to be perfect for us...and beautiful. You will enjoy working with her. One last thing...she is ever mindful of the budget. At first I was hugely sceptical about hiring a designer, based on my previous expirienes. Basically I did this because of my wife. After first meeting I was pleased but still sceptical. On the second meeting I already was surprised with organization, attention to all smallest details, and most important with ABSOLUTE undastanding of my project of my dream kitchen. At any moment Erin didn't push me to different direction and at the same time smartly gided me from wrong decisions. Second good thing - sticking to budget from A to Z. No suprises at any point. Third - access to the local sources. We needed custom wood working and some plumbing. And last - reaction to any problems down the road. Quick and constructive response.
