Memories of India — Restaurant in Saint Joseph

The food was alright, however, the service was horrible. From the moment we entered the staff was very rude. One of the guests wanted to use the washroom and instead of answering politely the man instead said you cannot use the bathroom unless you buy food. We obviously came to have a nice dinner with the family. We were then seated but there was nothing set up on the table. Even then we did not say anything. As soon as the waitress came we expected a warm welcome or even a smile. She walked up and with a monotone asked what we wanted. We ordered lassi's which did not come till we asked, exactly 30 mins later. After the appetizers and even then just 1 out of the 3 came. We asked the waitress after waiting how long the food will be, not rudely. She responded with an attitude and even then we asked for the bill of how much we had gotten, she did not given it to us. We did not want to stay anymore for the rest of the dinner Instead, she argued and forced us to stay. We asked for the owner and she coldly responded she was the owner and after that went and GOT the owner. Besides all of that, NONE OF THEM apologized. Lately, we've been ordering directly from businesses as Grubhub and DoorDash are charging business for their service. So, doing the same with this one, I called and placed an order. I paid and went back on my way. When we opened the bag, it seems like they forgot one dish (main dish). It didn't occur to me something may be missing, what I paid seemed reasonable for my order. So, I called next day and sadly this is where it all goes downhill!!! At first, the owner says that he did not forget anything and he's explaining me the math, which doesn't add up. He changing prices while I'm talking with him! So I decide to call him and have the menu in front of me. We're doing the math together and he's claiming that the menu on Yelp is not updated and I should use the menu they have online. Basically, what he was telling me, is that I paid more because I called them to order than if I had ordered via Yelp?!? His biggest lie: I actually went and checked the 'new' menu - the prices were 100% the SAME as my original order. I usually don't write negative reviews, but left without an entree and a few bucks, this one I couldn't let go!! Food is not bad, but the service...

My lunch today was at Memories of India. India's spice and food is always near and dear to my heart. Memories of India is located in Saint Joseph, Michigan. They moved from their previous location and moved to a location in St. Joseph near a busier street. Unique place with delicious food!

The food was really good! The butter chicken was good but lacked spice. I enjoyed the rich sauce that made the butter chicken delicious. I also tried the Lamb Curry. Wow! Delicious! It had spice and it was really nice. The Naan Bread was really good. 🔥 I was grateful to get exposed to really good food from different cultures.

The service was much better. There were more staff, the water cups stayed full, and the service was overall great!

The atmosphere was great! The atmosphere is bright, the decor is appropriate and clean, and the restaurant is inviting.

All in all, I enjoyed my experience at Memories of India. I'm looking forward to trying other menu items and trying all the...
