If youâre looking for a place to actually work out, keep looking. Despite the fact they have dedicated studio spaces for classes with all necessary equipment, the instructors regularly use the general workout area instead. The classes completely take over the general workout area. They spread out across the gym floor, hogging the benches, racks, and machines, leaving zero space or equipment for anyone else to work out. Itâs chaotic, frustrating, and feels like theyâre trying to push out individual gym-goers altogether. The classes are an hour long so there were entire mornings I could not work out.
When I raised this issue with the fitness center director, I was basically told to "I'm sorry you're mad" and that I would have to âdeal with it.â I was told in a very dismissive and patronizing manner, the classes get priority because theyâre paying moreânever mind that Iâm also a paying member! It was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.
To make things worse, the towels are horribleâthin, threadbare, and musty like theyâve been sitting in a damp basement for weeks. I actually broke out several times after using the towels so bring your own.
The facility has irritating maintenance issues as well, like broken drinking fountains that have been broken for ages. Staff knows about it but clearly doesnât care enough to fix it. Other equipment has similar maintenance issues.
This gym is poorly managed and completely indifferent to the needs of its members. The trainers treat it as their private gym and you are a nuisance and in their way. Save your money and go somewhere that actually respects...
Read moreWhat on earth does the 1star rating have anything to do with the St Louis Park Jewish Center? Im sorry but that should be removed... Im a neighborhood leader in St Louis Park, and I had heard that there was a workout facility at this center that was open to all, Jewish or non-Jewish- so I wanted to check this place out- I am also a Christian, so I kind of felt like an intruder :P but they were SO nice! (not that I expected they wouldnt be) I was told that the majority of those who attend this gym are Jewish, but anyone was still welcome. The gym had everything that the chain gyms had, and they even had a mens lounge with coffee, free wifi, flat screen TV, etc... I was very impressed! ... I a, debating switching out of lifetime fitness and over to this gym, although I still feel like I would be stepping on peoples toes by not being Jewish.. Who knows... None-the-less, I was impressed with the place. If only I could read Hebrew I might be able to understand more of the signage around...
Read moreAs a blond Christian, I've always felt very comfortable working out here. The facilities are good, everyone is friendly, but my problem is with the scheduling of the classes. There is very little regularity to the scheduling of the same class. So I found one that I liked, but the only time I could attend (since I have to be at work three days a week) was mid-morning on Thursdays. One class a week is not enough. The schedules fit retired people best. I'm 65 and not in the best of shape, but not the worst either. It was hard to find classes that were challenging enough but not overly challenging. They say they're going to be making some changes in the class offerings in the coming months. I hope they'll take these comments into account. I like the massage services, but they too are on a very...
