This is my favorite place to hike in the Twin Cities. It’s pretty much in the middle of the city but you wouldn’t know it. It’s quiet but not too quiet, so you won’t feel too alone. A loop around the island takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. It’s more of a walk in the woods than an intense hike. Pike Island is great year-round. Large trees provide shade in the hotter months. Enjoy the designated hiking paths...

During the day, this is a great place for family outings, long walks, jogging, communing with nature. As soon as the sun sets, the deer come out, making me wonder where they were an hour earlier. If you are energetically sensitive, and white, bring tobacco and offer it on the way to the island, otherwise the walk to the island can be a...

Pike Island is a top "meeting spot" for the boating community in the area. It truly is a "rural" feel....in the heart of the city! Minus the condos across the river....you would swear your in the North woods! This is a great trail it's mostly gravel and well groomed. The views of the rivers are great lots of benches to sit and take in the views. It's about 4 miles. Also the rivers combine at the peninsula which is pretty cool seeing both rivers one on each side. Great trail!
