Pike Island — Local services in Saint Paul

This is my favorite place to hike in the Twin Cities. It’s pretty much in the middle of the city but you wouldn’t know it. It’s quiet but not too quiet, so you won’t feel too alone. A loop around the island takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. It’s more of a walk in the woods than an intense hike. Pike Island is great year-round. Large trees provide shade in the hotter months. Pike Island is a top "meeting spot" for the boating community in the area. It truly is a "rural" feel....in the heart of the city! Minus the condos across the river....you would swear your in the North woods! It's sad that it floods way too often...and the beaches catch the trash people up river throw in the river...as it's a jewel...
