I feel sick to my stomach!!!!
I’ve grown up going to this Buca location, and tonight was one of the worst experiences.
We did arrive at 9pm and asked if it was ok, since we knew the restaurant was closing soon.
The manager said it was fine as long as we hurried to get our order in. We said that fine.
It took almost 15 minutes before a waitress came, and we were ready, we even knew what dessert we wanted. When it came to us ordering Cheesecake and the layered chocolate cake, we were shocked to hear they just took those items off the menu. We weren’t made just really shocked, as that was the whole point of us wanting to eat there this evening. And those were staple items in our opinion.
They tried to sell us a platter that had four dessert, one dessert being the cheesecake and one being the chocolate cake. We said we would buy it even tho we didn’t care for the other two desserts. We also asked to buy two of the platters since it would probably be our last time to get the two desserts with them phasing them out.
They came back letting us know they found two slices of each dessert. Very excited and said we would take all four to go.
Our food came, first the salad, three out of the five stack of plates were dirty. I graded a few from a different table as the waiter was slammed. Two more plates were dirty.
I open up silverware for my son, the fork is dirty.
We ordered sodas, our waiter never brought mine, and the rest of the table barely got refills.
We got our bill and while waiting my mother pulled out what looked like a wad of hair out of the baked cheese from the leftover meal. Which we were planning on taking home cause it was so delicious.
I was disgusted at this point, and could tell the manager didn’t believe us cause of all the issues that kept accumulating, and the waitress was so frazzled and overwhelmed by how busy it was. The manager did take $30 off our bill, but it was very obvious she was annoyed with us. That dish alone was $52, and she took $30 off?
We fully understand, we arrived 30 minutes before closing. If the manager had said no, we can’t seat anymore, we would have just left. We didn’t beg or plead with her, we just asked is it ok. And she said yes!
I’m saddened at the outcome, especially with how...
Read moreVisited on a very hot Sunday at my niece's request...She had just gotten married the day before and we were visiting the area for my medical procedure and the newlyweds flight for their honeymoon. I'm not much of a pasta lover but I was open to whatever...very glad I gave this place a try!
We arrived about 6:30-6:45 pm, I think. We were seated immediately in a cozy booth. It took a few minutes but a waitress approached with some much needed water and asked if we had visited before. My sister and I hadn't so we got a little spiel about the restaurant and how they serve. She left to get us some bread and drink orders while we discussed the menu. The restaurant serves everything family style. Portions are either Small: Feeding 2-3 or Large: Feeding 4-5. A large of anything seems to cost about $12 more than the small. We ended up ordering a small lasagna and a small fettuccine Alfredo to split. This easily fed the 4 of us with the bread. The bread is served with olive oil and you can have balsamic added if you like. The noodles tasted fresh instead of like a boxed variety that's been sitting awhile and boiled. The Lasagna was to die for! I'll definitely return for it! It did fall apart a bit when trying to eat it but it was so good, I didn't care. The Alfredo was a little thick for my taste. Maybe it was the heat but I had troubles swallowing it due to the thickness. It was still delicious. I didn't see an option on the menu to add chicken to it and we didn't ask but if you like it with meat like I do, please ask! I'll definitely order it again and hopefully it does have a chicken option! It does take awhile to get your food but it is definitely worth the wait!!! We had leftovers and they came back to the hotel with us!
The only downfall: I don't think there's AC in the building. It was 100° outside that day and it was easily just as hot inside. I felt just awful inside and was glad to eat and go back to the hotel for coolness.
Staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend here for a good Italian meal! I'll be back....if I can ever find the...
Read moreThis review is based on our second—and probably last—visit to Buca St Paul. My fiancé and I went there last weekend for dinner. There was a 45 minute wait for a table at the dining room, or they offered to sit us right away in a booth at the bar. "And you'll get great service" they said, so we took it. There were two bar tenders and one of them was waiting on the 3 booths at the bar. It took 20 minutes for one of the bar tenders (not the waitress) to acknowledge our presence and offer water/beverages. We ordered our food right away and our beverages were served promptly. That was the extent of the service we got. It took almost 30 minutes for our appetizers to arrive, and the waitress, who had refused to acknowledge our presence before, simply throws the plate at our table without even saying hello, or offering an apology for the delay. 30 more minutes after we'd finished our appetizer and we were still waiting for main courses. My fiancé had to walk twice to the bar and ask the bar tender to check if our food would take any longer. And during that time, NOT ONCE the waitress came to check our table, which she was doing for the other two. When we were finally tired of waiting (over 45 minutes by then) we asked for the check, and the waitress, without even asking why, simply says OK. While waiting for the check, the food finally arrived, and with it the manager to ask what was going on. When we explained we were hungry and tired of waiting and with the terrible service, instead of apologizing, he proceeds to question us about the service, and to say that "according to the record, your order was placed only 15 minutes ago". Not a single apology! Never before had we experienced such rude customer service. What a disappointment because our previous experience at that Buca had been a pleasant one. We were so angry and in disbelief at the terribly rude treatment...
