BEWARE!!! This used to be the best plumbing supply store in Salem, not any longer!
Sure, they great you with a friendly smile, call you neighbor. And thatâs when the good ends.
1st they Sold me a delta faucet with missing pieces, that I only found out when installing, so with my plumber on the clock, I had to drive from my Dallas home in the middle of my project, to their store Salem, then when Saffron didnât have the parts, I had go across town to get from another store. Not a big deal. When first buying the faucet, I mentioned I had other plumbing projects to do, they said they would have someone contact me to give a bid.
Later Brent Hunt from Saffron called, set a time, we met. Spent an hour going over my property, describing what I needed, and I drew him maps as the project involved 3 wells on 6 acres. He got back to me later with a bid that said it included all labor and materials for what we talked about, but it wasnât itemized or detailed. (My mistake not requesting a break down) but it did say all labor and materials.
I agreed to the bid, we set a date.
Days before the start date, Brent texts asking if I wanted a hydrant in a different location than I showed him. I said no, told him to refer to the map we gave him. He then said that he may have under estimated the pipe needed and there may be âextraâ costs. But the bid said âall labor and materialsâ included.
The workers showed up on the start day, nice young men, and started telling me what their plan was for the day. 1st thing was to clean my 2000 gallon water tank, and then they would cut out my concrete pad. I said that Brent told me they would horizontal drill under the pad, as I didnât want it cut up, and they said thatâs not what they do. I told them to hold off on that and I would call Brent. I said they could start the cleaning and maybe work on separating the two water sources that both feed that tank, they said they couldnât do that either, as it would require a new pump and pressure tank. I said wait on that Iâll call Brent.
I went inside my home to call Brent, who immediately said I was wrong, that we didnât talk about horizontal drilling, and thatâs why he wanted to put my hydrant in a different spot?!?
The out and out lies, the completely unprofessional bid, the omission of any details so he could add charges later! I said never mind the work. Tell your crew to leave.
I then went to the crew, told them what had transpired and that we wouldnât be using their services, and they said they had already added the cleaner to my water. I asked how long and what charges I would get for the tank cleaning, they said 2 hours plus the cleaner. I agreed and went inside.
Brent called them, told them to leave then, with the cleaner still in my water supply, effectively preventing us from using our water.
This isnât ok. No one should be held hostage by poorly written bids that imply a scope of work that the service provider changed based on their wants.
I will be investigating legal options. At the very least, I hope this helps other avoid a company that donât care about their clients. Maybe thatâs why they recently had to change...
Read moreI own a rental house-small farm, near Sheridan. Recently, the well essentially stopped working. I live in Seattle, so I completely relied on Saffron Supply to get my well running. Angel was in charge of all the work on my well. Because past work on the well had been done incorrectly, the repairs were more complicated than usual. Angel did a superb job of figuring out what was wrong and then correcting the problems, This included replacing the poorly designed control system and installing a new pump, and then carefully checking to make sure that there was adequate water for the house. Angel is extremely knowledgeable about wells, and took time to make sure that I understood what he was doing, his customer service skills are amazing. Because, Angel obviously strives to excel at what he does, I have a high degree of confidence, that my well will be trouble...
Read moreSaffron's is the best place to go for rinky dink plumbing parts and supplies. And for bigger things, too. Very competitive prices, too, if not less. Too bad Mr. Saffron is no longer around, but age catches up with everyone, I guess. I always liked seeing him. He seemed to be a calming influence when I was usually stressing about getting a plumbing job finished. Haha. I liked their older location downtown better-it also had a very handy and cold drinking fountain in back. But I guess there's more parking at the new location. I also like buying parts without all the fancy packaging the big box stores often...
