Well sadly it's quite overrun with abandon cars, people living in cars, rvs, and the worst is the amount of trash spread out throughout the park. I went kyacking I set off on the boat launch area and traveled towards keizer rapids Park which all along the Willamette River is tents and trash so much trash. I hadn't been too the river in over a year, as I was out of state but I must say a lots changed in a little time. I hope as a community or better yet as humans we can come up with a solution to this travesty other than what we've been doing. My heart breaks at the amount of homeless I see, then I get mad at the trash the homeless leave. So what's the solution? I saw in other counties near marion they provided waste services and bathrooms, then I saw shortly after this service was provided that the bathrooms were vandalized and the trash was still all over the community. I am at a loss of words and my opinions vary greatly. I just hope our mother earth can bare this abuse...

This park has a lot of great features that make it the best in west salem in my opinion with one major drawback. There are large soccer and playing fields, access to the Willamette for fishing, swimming and a boat launch area, a nice playground, lots of walking paths on and off the sidewalks, and access to the downtown park via the foot bridge.

The downside to this park is by far and away the hordes of homeless that live in the park to the north of the softball fields and use the park as a highway from the downtown union gospel mission back into the homeless encampments in the woods and wallace road. I have come across some severely mentally I'll and unstable people here in the past, so I always keep a close eye on my children while here. I have been told by people that used to be homeless that it is dangerous to go into the north woods, and I chose to take heade to those warnings and rarely ever go back there in the...

Update! They have new security guards this year and they're very nice and very reasonable! This situation seems to have been corrected!! 🙌🏼 Power trippy softball guard dogs. Won't let you take water in to boost their alcohol sales, then when you call them on it, they threaten to separate you from your family. I had to dump out my children's water bottles and when I raised concerns about it, the security guard threatened to kick me out of the park. I did not call them names, I even acknowledged it wasn't their fault, and the bag checker guard had to warn the other guard to calm down. Extremely unprofessional waste of taxpayer dollars. Another softball watcher, an older gentleman, mentioned his wife was thrown out of the park a couple weeks ago because of her water. Insane they're making people dump out water just so they can sell more alcohol inside the park. Do...

Not a fan. I love to walk in nature. And I appreciate the appreciation that Oregon has for green spaces. However place is only pretty from your car window. If you go only a few feet you will find whole homeless communities and mass amounts of litter and feral cats. Unfortunately there is a huge homeless problem in Salem. But this park should b used as an example to address this issue. I tried to walk the dirt path at the softball field but it is closed off to the public (whole money is used to take care of the park.). Unfortunately these walking trails do not allow people to feel safe. As a woman walking alone I feel like it was a matter of time that my body was going to be the topic of a true crime podcast. I honestly can't say I'd bring my child or dogs out here until the park is cleaned up.

This place is the nicest softball complex around the Pacific Northwest. It has it all to be comfortable during a tournament or other event held here. A couple fields cud use a little leveling out in a few places but they're still top notch fields. Concessions are aplenty and restrooms are kept clean and stocked. The garbage is changed every couple games which is over the top compared with other parks and plenty of seating for fans at every field. There are plenty of shade trees placed close to the action which again is incomparable to other complexes. A lot of other parks are choosing to cut the trees down:(

As a former official city tent shelter and car camping location the park has actually been cleaned up fairly well. Don’t go wondering on any thing that looks like a nice side trail as it will be anything but nice due to the side trails still being overtaken by the unsheltered citizens of the community. It sad but also understandable that the area is still encompassed by the homeless community as there is limited space and services available elsewhere. All and all still a decent open space park area, softball and soccer fields and boat ramp just be sure and stay on main pathways
