Gold's Gym — Local services in Salinas

Good that they are outside. Bad that people are NOT practicing s. Distancing ( about 1/2 were), machines werent cleaned between each person. And there is NO,NONE at all shelter from above, weather sunny or night, theres no protection from elements. At this moment there is an active slert for EXTREME AIR QUALITY ALERT , due to SEVERAL FIRES in our area,its at 159, (#3 worst air in the US, at this moment) without the employees warning about the risk, and or letting the members continue to work out ( when its even been on the news that no one should be workingout/exersizing outside and its been an active alert for 3 days), they are either

1. ignorant to the damage it can do to each person[ which obviously is different for each person,
2. oblivious , and just busy playing with there phones,perhaps they dont get paid to care about the members( this is an everyday occurance, with several different employees)
3. they are so money hungry, that they do not care
4. perhaps no one , permit wise knows they are open and operating like this,
5. they could have permission from city, and if thats the caseITS A WHOLE DIFFERENT ISSUE, Bottom line, if i need to work out without a proper mask, ( for the ash, which covid masks are not rated for that) i would hope my gym would use good judgement and due dilligence..and do what is best for members AND empliyees, whether they like it or not..i can no longer recommend businesses like...

Clean and great hours

Update 4 years later: I ended up moving 110 miles away February 2020. Walked in to cancel. They filled out some paper and told me it was cancelled. Asked for something to provide and they said it wasn't necessary. Never had an issue so I went on my way. Fast forward to March 2021 and they are still charging me for over a year! I called and was told only via email would I be able to resolve it. Got no where. I explained my situation and the proof is in the badge ins. If there was any badge in data during that time it was fraud. They never answered back and the bank only refunded two months. Dispicable. Very unprofessional. I'm back in the area and the only way I'll go back there is if they honor those ten months I already paid

Update The previous manager Andrea was a blessing to this gym. She is truly missed. This picture was taking Monday and it's Thursday. This has inshape vibes since it's a complete cesspool for disease and now it's travelled to golds gym in Salinas. After you guys ripped me off for a year and I decided to return and give you guys business because you guys were the best but this is an absolute joke. Y'all gonna charge the annual fee for what? You guys don't even take care of the gym. This is the girls restroom that my girl sent me and it's still there today along with ants and pads,diapers, and tampons laying around. After years of requesting for an extra fan in the workout room, they finally got one which I appreciate. The cleaning staff seem to be doing a much better job.

I wish management will put up a more noticeable sign that states that when classes are in session, ONLY people attending classes can be in the room. A hanging sign on the door would be great for the instructor to show that class is in session.

Also, staff needs to be more organized with class schedules. Not sure how much communication there are between management and instructors. Social media needs to be updated much more frequently. Class sizes seem to be getting smaller and worry about cancellation of classes.

Overall the location, parking and staff are good. Needs to be a bit more organized with alerts to members on social media. Used to have a staff in charge of all the group classes but since she’s left, it’s been a bit of a mess with communication.
