Our move was a fiasco. Damage to so many things from piano, to grandfather clock, to leather sofa, an eliptical machine base they cracked. They attempted to fold a queen mattress in half, it was not a memory foam mattress. I contacted Doug the owner promised to come out and assess damages, I am still waiting-he will not return calls and has not come out to view damage. They walked through a screen door and ripped it. Tried to say certain damage to a file cabinet was there already when one of the workers said it aboslutely was not there. Scratches to Gym equipment in new condition. Banged walls and scratched floors....missing pieces from exercise equipment and other damages not shown here. If you decide to use them, get proof of insurance PRIOR to doing business with them I have yet to see their coverage. Do NOT recommend using them. Doug you have lied in your response. out right lied!! They actually brought to my attention damage done by them right after they did it to my file cabinet corner!!! One of your men actually agreed that that damage was not there and done by the two young men during move. BOB knew about damage to floors and walls and that things were not going well. He said he would come to home at 1pm never showed. NO inspection was ever done by your men prior to moving anything! The only damage noted was on top of piano prior to moving it and I pointed that out. The door was closed by your employee I watched him do it. I warned him as he was walking through it to stop. The closing happened without issue because I had to paint and wipe walls with magic eraser to remove scuffs all down my stairway. Furniture damage has nothing to do with a closing, it has everything to do with your company causing signifcant damage and not taking responsibility. Main floor was damaged with scuff from moving piano... Your workers worked hard but to their own admission they had difficulty moving large furniture. Had you come here to inspect items you would see the damage that was caused. You have until October 15th to respond. You have not returned calls since your hosptial visit... two weeks later. No calls no response. Yes we used you before but this time you have failed as a business owner. The invitation to come and inspect damage is still open. When will you be here? YOu have my number since I have contacted you in writing. All we are asking is make it right. Come see the damage.

We used Doug and his crew for our move into our first home. This was a gift from my husband's parents and we were so thankful. However it was all fine until they had to move our couch. They could not figure out how to get it out of our apartment. Doug consistantly asked us, "so what are you gonna do about this." Like it was our job. After all the hassle my father-in-law came over and sawed the couch in half and bought us a new one. Doug made the comment that he would not be responsible. Doug then assured us that he would dispose of the couch for us. We have been in our house for about a month and we were waiting on our security deposit, we received all but $200 back last week due to a "disposal fee". Along with the check were pictures of our cut in half couch dumped in front of our apartment building, as well as our maintanence crew taking it away. So much for Doug taking it for us. The least they could do is pay us the $200 that was taken away from us for a job that was promised to be taken care of. If I knew it wasn't going to be done properly I would've just rented a $20 truck from Home Depot and disposed of it myself rather than having $200 taken from me.

I was overcharged for a team of three older guys pulled out of retirement to be careless with my things, be passive aggressive with me, and rip the leg off my grandparent’s piano. In their rush, they chipped the antique furniture they dragged up my stairs, they chipped and broke antique frames, tore oil paintings, dented walls and ripped wallpaper. I’ve moved 20+ times in my life; this is without a doubt the worst move I have ever experienced. Instead of taking responsibility, Doug is attempting to erase the issue by stonewalling me: I have made several phone calls. I have sent multiple emails. I have sent letters certified mail. Not a single reply. I’m upset. I’m appalled. I’m angry. And I have a feeling this ends in court. But even with my money back and my piano repaired, nothing can change the awful experience or the stress of cleaning up their mess; nothing can replace our one of a kind things. Don’t trust this company, with your money or with your stuff; you’ll regret it.

1st: they were 4 hours late to show up. 2nd: They didn't take inventory on my belongings and the owner was very rude to myself and my g/f the whole time. 3rd: I didn't get the 5% discount as stated in the contract no matter how many times I called them about it. 4th: I moved south and they were over a week late per contract showing up. I had to buy clothes, food, and other items because of that. 5th: MANY items were damaged or broken upon arrival, plus I was missing some items and got someone else's items. 6th: when they finally showed up only one man showed up to unload the moving van. I had to assist. i would NEVER use this company again and I would NEVER recommend them to anyone EVER! $5,800 to move me. Not worth a penny!

And well Doug after you offering my my 5% discount IF I removed my review. That is BLACKMAIL It was written into the contract that I was supposed to have the 5% discount.. FAKE!, and no matter how many times I called before witting my review I NEVER got my 5% discount.. A really bad way to do business! And you were not a "couple" of days late with my belongings you were a week late! And on your response that you would gladly give me the 5% discount IF I removed my negative rating of you....Really??? The 5% was in the contract! I would call that...

I called Afford A Move on the recommendation of a friend, and I'm so glad I did. We relocated from NH to NC and the task seemed pretty daunting and overwhelming. Afford A Move made it very easy for us.

It started with a visit from Doug, the owner, to do a walkthrough of the space we were moving out of. After that, we got a detailed estimate which immediately put our mind at ease. It wasn't just affordable, it was well below the national moving chains.

On moving day, the truck showed up and the movers couldn't have been more friendly or more professional. They had us moved out of a four floor townhouse condo in what seemed like record time, taking great care with all of our items.

They showed up at the new house the same weekend! I expected to have to wait like you do with large moving companies, but they asked ME when I'd like the items delivered to the new house and they showed up--on time and got us into our new house just as fast.

From start to finish, this was a great experience and I would whole-heartedly recommend Afford A Move to anyone, whether you're moving across town or across the country. Their service and their personal touch is second to none. We're in our dream home thanks to...
