Happy this new spot opened near our PQ home! Easy to make an appointment online and multiple available times. Love that they offer 75 min option sometimes 90 mins is too much but 60 mins is too little.
Expect decent quality massage here, incorporating eastern/Chinese methods and techniques (typically more deep tissue and targets pressure points in the body). I had the pleasure of working with Amy for my 75 minute massage this morning and wow, she knew the body better than some doctors I've dealt with! She found pressure points and gave me tips for at home care for my broken body. Most places gatekeep information to ensure they get your money but not here I was really impressed by Amy's knowledge of the body and communication with me throughout the massage.
As someone who gets massage every other or every week, I do think I have experience and credibility in knowing the different quality of services you can get around San Diego. I felt Amy really took her time with me and she even gave me a foot scrub at the end just because! Such a caring and hardworking person. Thank you Amy!
I did take 2 stars off because the front desk person who Amy referred to as "boy" interrupted my massage while the sheet was off my entire backside. Never should the door be opened much less a whole conversation happen. I was face down so I couldn't tell if she peeked out the door to talk to him but it was very uncomfortable. There was also a phone that went off during my massage inside the room. Not great.
One of my favorite things also is they offer 20% off for paying in cash. This helps a lot and usually I'll be able to leave more in tip. So bring cash! Some places require a card on file to even make an appointment which they do not here at Lunar Bay however do expect to pay before your massage. Unfortunately the front desk person shared that two people recently wanted right out of their massage room closing the door behind them to trick the workers here and snuck out the back door when they claimed they were using the restroom. This left the business and therapist out of hard earned money which is just so sad that people do harmful things like leave without paying. So I totally understand why they ask for payment before!
I walked in feeling very tense, in pain, and I left with more knowledge about my injured shoulder, where to apply heat versus cold on certain areas of my body, and I felt genuinely cared for by Amy! Make your next appointment here and stop wasting your money at other places where you pay for a spa experience. The body needs to feel a little pain to release tension that builds up from our daily stresses so expect more deep tissue work from your therapist but in my honest opinion, I'm going to have my body worked on not really to relax with someone barely touching my body.
Also they have add ons like foot scrub and Woodlock (similar to tiger balm but a thinner liquid so it applies easier and penetrates the muscles deeper in my opinion) FOR FREE and use hot stones. SKILLFULLY at that (some people just place the hot stones on the body and it's like why is this scalding rock just sitting on me...?) and Amy was very kind in asking how I got to be so tense (recent injury and the typing at work).
I definitely recommend Amy at Lunar...
Read moreJust had a great(lunchtime) 90min deep tissue massage special for $94 (not including grat + Venmo is accepted) This massage included Full back, arms, legs & shoulders. Minimal glutes (next time I'll ask for more), hands, feet & face. The massage also included: Hot stones which I liked the temp but might want to inquire if sensitive to heat and hot rags which was more bearable that the stones for me. Lighting and ambiance is relaxing. The (only) thing I noticed were how thin the walls are. Any chatter will be heard, other than that this was a very peaceful & relaxing experience for an impromptu walk in✨ Misha (I think 🙈) was my masseuse, very professional, I felt comfortable with her maneuvers through our session. My hard/firm pressure request was met and I...
Read moreI was there for a massage on Tuesday Feb 25, 2025. The massage was good but overheard some dissatisfaction with their boss. I could tell that the boss was a very young man with no experience and the therapist's were getting cheap tips by some customers. It appears that the boss is cheap and makes a lot of money and could care less about the people he hires. They were talking in Chinese Mandarin which I speak and understand fluently. I will not go there any longer because of the way this young man treats his therapists and doesn't pay them reasonably. The massage was okay but could be better. All should avoid this place rather than get involved in a feud. Its not a fun place when customers and employees...
