We had the pleasure of being transported to the Mediterranean on a recent hosted experience at the amazing restaurant Pita 22 in San Diego, California โ๏ธ
Jessica, the manager, was an absolute delight and did not disappoint with her recommendations. Each dish is made in-house and packed with flavor and freshness. With generous portion sizes, each bite left us satisfied, yet craving more.
Hereโs what we loved:
๐ harissa sauce: spicy, bold flavor that packs a punch in every bite ๐ the pita was fluffy and soft and our 8-year-old happily gobbled them up with the delicious hummus ๐ the hummus fries were fun and flavorful ๐ the falafel salad was a delightful combination of fresh vegetables and flavor-packed quinoa and rice that left all of us wanting more ๐ the vegan portobello pita sandwich was delightfully delicious and satisfying, especially to our mushroom loving 5-year-old ๐ the shakshuka was savory perfection
The menu is extensive and adaptable and is sure to satisfy any flavor palette and desire. ๐
Itโs in a fantastic location in a shopping plaza with ample parking. All tables were full at lunch hour with a constant stream of customers and it didnโt feel overcrowded and busy. The vibe is modern with a cozy twist, with family photos and plants throughout. ๐ชด
This kitchen has done a lovely job adding plenty of plant-based items to the menu that are packed with freshness and flavor. We highly recommend and canโt wait to go back ๐๐ป

ย ย ย Read moreThe food here is amazing! If I'm ever in the area and want a healthy bite or unsure what I'm craving, I make sure to stop by here! And if I'm craving it, I make the drive from Ramona to do so. I do love their shakshouka and sabih. Normally I just get water to drink, but here I buy a beverage since they serve freshly squeezed lemonade, Morrocan mint iced tea, or pomegranate iced tea. On Fridays, they sell freshly baked challah bread. Get there when they open because it's first come, first bought. On Friday 06/25/25 I came in around 1:15pm for lunch and looking to buy a couple loafs and they were already sold out. There is also a third menu board right next to the cash register on the right side (instead of up by the ceiling) so look for that as well. And if they have a one-off item it will be displayed on a small board next to the left cash register. The one-off item they had that day was a portobello mushroom pita or bowl. I got the pita and it was amazing. I'll have...
ย ย ย Read moreThis was our first time trying Pita 22 and I was impressed. At first I was a little leery as a lot of American Greek/Mediterranean food is too Americanized for me. I've been overseas to the area a few times and had local versions of Mediterranean food and this compared very well. I had the chicken shawarma plate and it was fabulous. (Apologies for the kitchen table but we did take out.) The chicken was seasoned perfectly and juicy, plus there salt of it. It came with tahini sauce, hummus, Mediterranean coleslaw, house salad, pita bread and either rice or fries. It was a lot of food! The homemade pita bread was oh so good! The owner /operator was there and he was super nice and courteous. We are going back and soon!
Edit: We ordered a catered meal for Mother's Day and it was a big hit! Despite having a lot of hungry mouths, we had a lot of left overs due to the generous portion sizes. I am going to do this again! They did offer to provide napkins and utensils, but...
