BIGGEST SCAM in San Marcos only reason they got 4 stars is b/c the beg of the poor tourist, who don’t have a clue what they are in for, for a 5 star to be given a t-shirt the quality of the couches! Check yelp they got 2 starts. Speaking of couches unless you are one of the lucky people to move into the probably 2 units that are newly remodeled your furniture will fall apart after the first month of move in. Our couches were made of pleather (fake leather) which started falling off after the second week of staying here leaving black specks of leather all over the unit. The blinds broke the second you touch them I suggest leaving your blinds all the way up unless they will literally break or fall off the hinges. All the doors in the complex are messed up. One of my roommates door handles is 2 turns away from falling off, my door not even installed properly was too low to the ground every time I open it the carpet would lift up exposing rotten wood and rusty nails, which they claim was replaced last year. Back door was the worst, you literally had to be lucky if that door opened, the door handle was messed up you had to push it in turn it a certain way lift it up JUST FOR IT TO OPEN, I don’t feel like solving a puzzle when I want to relax on my balcony. Not to mention maintenance noticed it when they were over fixing one of the many problems in my unit and just laughed about it. All cabinets in EVRY part of the house were installed incorrectly and not aligned properly doors wouldn’t close right. Now to get into the more intresting parts of my stay here. Let’s start with the roaches, like any other review roaches EVERYWHERE, bad bad infestations since move in day. Any part of the apartment you can think of there was roaches, I remember moving the couch to clean and there was a NEST of roaches. Eggs and everything I was so disturbed that this was in the same living space as me. We called twice they came in spectated the unit, sprayed like 2 corners with probably water, he took our info and said we will come back within the week to evacuate the unit to air out the roaches and they NEVER came, never received an email or anything regarding a follow up. Pest even told us they are here every Tuesday and still never got a follow up, shows how much this complex cares about residents stay. Next is the funny part of my stay, started when my roommate had a leak under his sink every time I showered. Maintenance was called on his part and they hammered a few pipes and said it was a coincidence that it leaked every time I showered. Well as expected it wasn’t a coincidence, the pipe was still leaking under the sink then started forming mold. They didn’t come back till my roommate threatened to take legal action for the mold. They hammered a few pipes and said it was good, well IT WASNT. I was woken up one school morning at 8 to banging on my bedroom door, I open it and they said that there is a leak downstairs and need to get into my restroom so I let them in, They proceeded to make a HUGE hole in my shower wall and then they ask if my roommate is awake (the one who with the leak) and if they can go in there. They then bang on his door and got in and made a huge hole under his sink they covered the hole in my shower with trash bags and masking tape and said try not to get it wet and use your roommates shower if you can, as for my roommate they brang a huge fan and pointed it under his sink and told him leave it running for a few days (using our electricity) till we come back. That fan was so loud for me and that’s cause I was in a different room it was louder from his room. This happened in march and I’m already moved out and both hole still have yet to be taken care of. It’s a matter of time before this complex is out of business, they claim “millions in renovations” but all renovations were made outside making the outside look deceiving to tourist. Cheap rent is advertised but after utilities you will end up paying the same as if you were on the square, i pay almost the same price at the local and I’m on the...
Read moreThe only good thing about this apartment is the price, but that's quickly jacked up because of your outrageous utility bills. I've lived in trashy apartments before, but this is the icing on the cake.
So, for starters, I have lived here for one year and going on to two, so I have a lot to say. When I first moved in during the 2023-2024 year, the AC had been broken for over a week in the middle of a very hot August. The maintenance kept pouring refrigerant into a leaking AC unit and just gave a temp unit to the two roommates that lived here. It got so bad, that they were considering calling an outside AC technician to come and fix it. Then one of the roommates moved out and took the couch they had in the living room, we waited six months to get a new one after many calls to the office and maintenance staff who kept saying "we don't have one" but they did, my room has MISSING screws on the bedframe that have never been fixed and make my bed extremely unstable, I had no dresser either and still don't, I've had to buy my own. I pay $50 additional every month for a "premium" unit that has unlevelled countertops and make it extremely hard to close them including in the bathroom.
The toilets here constantly break, for a period of six weeks there have been leaky sinks in each bathroom. The walls here are ridiculously thin as well, I can literally hear my neighbor's bed creaking, I can even hear my neighbors on the floor above me flushing their toilets and using their laundry machines. There is literal BIOHAZARDS (dog feces) out on the grass for every single block of the apartment because nobody picks up after their dogs and the apartment doesn't enforce it. The railing on my second floor balcony is loose enough to the point that you can literally wiggle it. They claim to have a resort style pool but yet have broken chairs and hammocks, broken beer bottles and empty beer cans all over the pool and it is dirty 10 months out of the year. The doors aren't properly leveled either and are missing the weather stripping thus pushing air out from it. The front door is easy to break into, just a simple push and the door can get knocked in. The unit walks they do aren't even proper unit walks. They charge $125 for a "cleaning" fee and don't even clean the apartment. Their inspection crew consisted of two Maintenace guys, three girls from the office, and one cleaning girl. They came in, blasted music, talked, and broke one of the toilets including leaving cleaning supplies on the floor and a random shower rod and never returned to get it.
Maintenance requests are hardly followed through, I've had a leak in my literal ceiling in the common area since July and I've put in requests to fix it but nobody came, it was just marked as completed. Maintenance constantly confuses the rooms and during unit walks at the end of the lease period, they causally walked into my room without knocking. I've seen people throw glass bottles in the hallways, leave food out to rot, and leave out FILLED trash bags. There are literal holes in the stairwells that just had plywood and wall putty smeared over it because people were moving in, I've had a crack on the ceiling of my patio that just had putty put over it. God forbid you need to clean behind your dryer or have it replaced because there is a literal giant wooden plank holding the water tank over it so you cannot move the dryer to clean lint behind it which is a FIRE HAZARD. The flooring is literally peeling off in the living area. The railways on the stairs are loose as well. The sidewalks are very uneven so take caution when walking considering I've almost tripped on it multiple times.
Oh, and you like that it's gated right? Guess what, the gates stay open 24/7 and the back gate is either stuck open or won't open and it took them an entire year to fix it. There were literal kids wandering in this apartment having gotten through the back gates. The mailboxes are constantly broken, I didn't even get a key to my mailbox until a month after living here. The good reviews are...
Read moreI have never experienced such terrible management as I have here at the Lodge. I wouldn't even recommend living here to my worst enemy. Firstly, managements customer service is nonexistent. I had reached out to the finical manager, Aubrey about a concern when whoever I spoke with on the phone mis communicated information to me that resulted in $20 in additional late fees on my part. I knew I wouldn't get paid until the 4th and didn't know that after then you can no longer use your bank account as a payment option on your resident portal. The person on the phone seemed just as stumped and was "forwarding my information to the ITAC team." I called back only to find out she doesn't really work in the office and the issue is that you need to use a certified money payment (moneygram) and that my portal was perfectly fine. I also came home to an eviction notice even though I was waiting for a phone call that never came to help me fix the situation. I knew I wasn't going to get my money back, but wanted to address that this was very confusing on my part and wanted to make a suggestion of if a resident still hasn't paid rent then maybe someone could take the time to reach out and speak to them. Why not show concern for your residents and take the time to make sure everything is okay and follow up prior to just threatening to evict them 5 days after rent was due and to be gone by the 8th. Aubrey reply to my suggestion? "It would be highly inefficient to contact all 500 residents." Because all 500 are 5 days late? At least pretend to seem concerned and say you'll make note of it or start typing on the keyboard so I can think you care. It wasn't a pleasant interaction for me..
Secondly, I had a package delivered and had a note left on my door, but when I tried to pick it up they didn't have it. The next day I brought the note with me and they said because amazon put "the lodge southwest" instead of my name they couldn't give it to me. The woman at the front was very short with me when I was asked who the sender is as I had order more than one order and would need to know who to contact. She just kept repeating, "I cannot give it to you it doesn't have your name." I even had the tracking number and confirmation from amazon prime. She was very rude and could've brought so much ease to the experience if she had shown any empathy. I'm understanding just a simple, "mam I'm so sorry I understand your frustration, but it's our policy. I'm happy to tell you who the package is from so you can contact the sender." Instead she repeated the same statement cutting me off, and was hesitant to even tell me who sent it. She said it would be sent to the post office and 30 minutes later the postal worker who picked it up went directly over to my apartment and dropped it off because it was in fact, my mail I had purchased.
I have experience more attitude and rude customer service than I have positive experiences in the 4 months of living here.
Thirdly, my roommates and I have put in multiple maintenance request about our couch. It is literally falling apart with the faux leather peeling apart and sticking to our legs and shedding around the apartment. I had even tried calling and the worker over the phone, similar to the package experience, repeated "you have to put in a maintenance request" despite me explaining we have 4 times. She kept cutting me off and it was very frustrating. Then I go to a friends apartment in a different building and they have beautiful cloth sofas and all matching bedroom pieces. Which nothing in our apartment that came with the furnished package matched anything. Feels like they just threw any random furniture into each of the bedrooms because they could get some more use out and didn't want to throw it away. My bed frame didn't even match the mattress it came with. It was a whole size difference and not even my roommates have any matching desk/ drawers. Yet other residents paying the same price get the nice sofas and desk? Who determines who is deserving of it?
DO NOT...
