Crystal Springs Village — Local services in San Mateo

My friend took me there for a Pizza. The small Shopping Center is near the De Anza or the Polhemus Road exit from Hwy 92 and contains a very small CVS and a huge, well-stocked Safeway plus a Starbucks & Wells Fargo Bank too. I had visited those businesses previously, but I had never dined at the Rainbow Pizza Greek Restaurant before. My friend said this was one of his favorite Pizza Establishments in the entire Bay Area, so l let him order. I told him that my only request was for “extra cheese” but he assured me that it would not be necessary. I was a little miffed, but I was really amazed at the amount of cheese that did arrive on the meat pizza that he ordered. I kicked off all the sausage from my slices and there was so much meat it took awhile, but then there was certainly ample cheese left on my topping to satisfy me. (His dog was the recipient of the extra meat that l didn’t eat, so there was no waste!) I was hungry so l ordered a small Caesar Salad before they brought the Pizza and there were lots of large croutons in that salad which also were saved for my goat, Sonny. I like this outdoors shopping center a lot. It has a nice and large Starbucks with outdoors seating, a Safeway, and a Wells Fargo bank. It also has a few other eateries. Our favorite Japanese restaurant is also located in this plaza. Wakuriya, is a tiny 1-Michelin star Japanese restaurant with very limited seating. Dining is only available with prior reservations which you can make by phone only, exactly 30 days prior to your intended date. The restaurant is managed by a wonderful Japanese couple (manager wife and chef husband) who go out of their way to make your experience an unforgettable one. Reminds me a little of Tahoe City minus the trinket/touristy shops. Has pretty much all a tucked-away neighborhood needs. Safeway, CVS, Bank, great restaurants/foodie/coffee places, dentists, doctors, Jewelers, bakery, dry cleaners, vet, fish and poultry and produce market across the street.
