Sourdough & Co — Restaurant in San Mateo

I realize they are new but taking orders and making the sandwich ordered is tablestakes and that absolutely did not happen. My order was not complicated and somehow not provided as requested d(declining the offer of mayo on bread but was added anyway, or selecting one bread type when asked but given another, or asking for the secret sauce on the side and it was viewably placed in a side dish but somehow not added to the bag).

I was there on a Fri afternoon (today) around 1pm and they weren’t slammed. I was told it’s 15m for my 3 tuna sandwiches and I asked if it could be expedited if possible bc I was in a hurry. The first 5m were all staff (sandwich makers included) either standing around doing nothing, wiping counters or sweeping. 2 of the 3 sandwiches were not cut in half (served whole) and the tuna itself was mediocre at best.

I was really hoping for a better experience and love the idea of a sandwich shop there. I’m rooting for them but am concerned this level of service will not sustain today’s...

This was one of the most underwhelming food experiences I've ever had in the Bay Area. Staff seemed uncomfortable, unhappy. The Owner/manager was very awkward and pushy and made ordering uncomfortable.

Prices were incredibly high, and the quality was subpar when comparing to other delis who charge equivalent or less. I guess the only plus is if you live local and don't want to go down the hill for something better (so not worth it with the other options in the Plaza).

The brisket was not special, the cheese is not imported, and there was barely any vegetables/lettuce on the sandwich. Pretty pathetic for a $20, weird tasting, overly sauced snack. I honestly didn't finish because it was supposed to be a hot sandwich but was still cold inside and made me feel like I was going to get sick if I finished.

Shame on this place. Subpar sandwich and overpriced. $17 (before tip) for an 8inch turkey deli sandwich is just robbery..

Also, staff has zero idea how to make a sandwich. Watching them spread the avocado was excruciating.. Using only quarter of an avocado for an 8inch sandwich (only putting slices on the edges) , not pitting the avocado before hands , and not removing the over-riped blacked pieces.

Really not sure where these other 5star reviews came from , this place is just not good, skip and go to Safeway next door for a much better sandwich...
