The views of the Mt. was breath taking. However as we were walking along the trail that goes around the lake we noticed a dead fish... kinda normal around lakes n such. Then we noticed another one, another, a crawdad (dead), another fish, that's 3 fish so far them another... by the time we got from parking lot to across the little one lane access that goes up farther we counted 8 dead fish, 2 crawdads, n the water looked like a reddish brown. I LOVED THIS LAKE FOREVER!! never ever have I've seen it this color nor have I seen so many floating dead fish. The spring that was coming off the Mt. n running into the lake was clear as day. See rite thru it... not the lake. Cud not see even an inch into the water. I had to leave, was there maybe 15 mins drive all the way there from Canby, Or. ... I cried LITERALLY cried! Guess time for a new favorite...

7/17/25 Trillium Lake in Oregon-Entrance fee. An excellent place to get extraordinary pics of Mt Hood. If you are lucky to be there on a calm day, you will get an excellent reflection of Mt Hood on the lakes surface. There is a picnic area, camping area, boat launch ($5), bathrooms, lot of places to fish from shore, and even kayak rentals here. I could see people skiing on the mountain when I zoomed in on it. There are some trails around the lake area also. It was a great...

This spot is magic. The lake itself is beautiful, perfect for hanging around, fishing, having a picnic, etc...but the best thing about this place is the views and the reflection of Mt. Hood on the water. If you are lucky, the ski is clear and the mountain is snow covered you can get an amazing picture. For the best lighting I recommend coming either early in the morning or late in the afternoon. There are some parking spots, informative panels and restrooms in the area.
