Trillium Lake in Oregon is an absolute gem! I recently had the pleasure of camping there, and it was a breathtaking experience. I can't recommend it enough for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. The serene lake, surrounded by towering trees and majestic mountains, creates a picturesque setting that instantly puts you at ease.
One of the highlights of my trip was the incredible star gazing opportunity. When the sky was clear, it transformed into a mesmerizing canvas of twinkling stars. The absence of light pollution allowed me to witness a celestial spectacle like never before. It was an awe-inspiring sight that left me feeling connected to the vastness of the universe.
The campground itself was well-maintained. Waking up to the tranquil sounds of nature and being able to explore the surrounding trails made me appreciate the beauty of this place even more.
Trillium Lake is a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you're into hiking, fishing, or simply seeking solace in nature, this place has it all. The panoramic views from the hiking trails are nothing short of breathtaking, and the peaceful ambiance makes it an ideal spot to relax and recharge.
If you're planning a visit to Oregon, Trillium Lake should be at the top of your list. Don't forget to bring your camping gear and keep your fingers crossed for clear skies. The star gazing experience alone is worth the trip. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. I give Trillium Lake a well-deserved...
Read moreThe part of the trail that is on the Mount Hood side of the lake that usually goes over swampy stuff is currently closed while the boardwalk is being replaced, so you can walk the trail in a big U shape, park in the very first parking lot to get the longest trail run, and start out by going left once you reach the lake trail. If you were standing at the dam, the right hand side of the lake as you face Mount Hood has a lot of picnic tables back in the woods and during open season has lavatories. The left hand side of the lake has a road above the lake as well as the trail down by the lake, but is less developed overall. You will sometimes find cars parked along this road as people are up in the woods looking for mushrooms. The downstream end of the lake, to the left of the dam as you face Mount Hood, has a kind of beach where many local folk come and fish of an afternoon, but they are not too intense about it, you can hear them talking from about 50 yards away typically and some of them have dogs along for the fresh air. We walked past probably about 20 different fishing poles (with people) twice and never saw a single fish come out of the water, but it surely was a beautiful day! Weather came down starting about 2 pm, don't know if that's usual...
Read moreWhat a spectacular lake and campground!!!! Stunningly beautiful and so much to do. Clean and well kept campground. We got a site right on the lake which was amazing!!! $22 a night and if you can get reservations it is recommended as its a very popular place. The day use area is awesome and you can BBQ, picnic, swim, float, canoe, fish, etc. There is a very nice well maintained (except a few loose boards on parts of path) path around the entire lake. The water was defi I felt warm enough for swimming in mid June. We would drive up for the day just to play. The campground also has "walk up sites" which are first come first serve. If you are lucky enough to find one open then pull in and the wonderfully friendly camp hosts will come by to sign you in. Government Camp is 5 minutes away and there's a small grocerie store, pizza, restaurant, basketball court, arcade, o the list goes on and on. Tons of stuff to do and really a quick trip from Portland. Highly recommend for the...
