Charming, cute, convenient, easy, low - stress, immaculate, friendly! You don't normally use the aforementioned adjectives to describe an airport. However, the adjectives are completely accurate when describing the Santa Barbara Airport (SBA). The Santa Barbara Airport is most certainly in my "top 5" favorite airports in the U.S. After 40 years of travel industry employment, I've visited hundreds of airports. Trust me, there are very few airports to choose from when making my "top 5" list. Sure.....most airports are nice and have many modern amenities and conveniences. Only a few existing airports today can offer such a pleasant and convenient experience as you will find at SBA. The airport facilities here are smaller than most airports of today, SBA is a regional airport facility. There are no long, never-ending concourses, moving side walks and thousands of gates. The Santa Barbara Airport is refreshingly convenient; step out at the curb in front of the terminal, and it's a very short walk to ticketing, TSA screening check points and then the departure gates. If I'm not mistaken, there are only 4 - 5 departure gates (you will not get lost!) The terminal itself is adorable and unique. The building looks like a beautiful Spanish - American Mission with manicured landscaping lining the driveway to the terminal. When driving up to the terminal, you feel more like you're approaching a country club or resort rather than an airport. The inside of the terminal facility is immaculate! The Spanish- American, southwest decor and motif continues throughout. The TSA security screening is very simple and well organized. Don't let the smaller facility fool you, TSA has all the latest technology in place. In addition, the TSA Agents are not only efficient, but they are some of the nicest I've met anywhere! Going through TSA security screening here at SBA is about as pleasant, stress free as you will find anywhere on the planet! Furthermore, all of the airline and airport associates are friendly and kind. The bottom line is; SBA is a beautiful, efficient, friendly and convenient regional airport facility. If you live in the Santa Barbara area or travel to this area, you are truly lucky to have such an exquisite airport! If you haven't experienced SBA, you need to! Especially, if you're an aviation enthusiast (like yours truly) this is a must see and experience airport!!

The airport is very small, and very ill equipped to handle fog. So far, a light blanket of fog has prevented planes from landing or taking off over the past day. Since they claimed closure due to weather conditions, the airlines do not need to reimburse their passengers for overnight stays and/or connecting flight plans that get ruined. I have been to plenty of airports, and rarely had any issues at all, but this is the first airport I have felt a strong need to WARN PEOPLE TO NOT GO THROUGH HERE. Do anything to avoid having to travel through the Santa Barbara airport, this has been the worst experience I have EVER had at one! I am only going to Phoenix, and renting a car and driving myself is the best option I am left with. The picture is the “weather extreme” that they closed for. Would have given zero stars but not an option. Also, Uber is ridiculously expensive to pickup from this airport! It was $98 to get 4 miles to a hotel, taxis are half the price.

Parked where the small Vista or view section is located closer towards beach. First time doing that and I must say it was a memorable one. Had the most inspiring and uplifting conversation with someone I've never met. I'm a firm believer that nothing is a coincidence, people cross paths for a reason. With thr times we are facing and our freedom of speech being censored its time to take yourself out of the comfort zone and do something different. Somethimg out of your normal routine. While covid is encouraging people being divided don't be afraid to have a conversation with someone you don't know. Knowledge is power and we can learn so much from one another. I know this isn't about the airport per say so now my input about the airport. I feel the airport as a whole is beautiful since the remodeling. Airport patrol was doing their thing which I have the highest respect for. I get that some think any type of law enforcement is bad but I can speak for the ones I know whether it's family or friends, not all are bad. We as humans need to learn how to respond instead of react. Just think how much our words can create peace or prevent ourselves from unwanted situations. Hats off to airport personnel from patrol units, operations, TSA, and airline employees. Keep up the good work and keeping the area safe, secure, and appreciate the professionalism, polite, and respectful encounters I have had...

I can never fly out on time from this airport. It’s a 4 person Airport that always has lines despite of the fact the are no people. Today I was advised to leave for my trip tomorrow because they couldn’t fly me from SB to Cabo earlier, they had 24 hours to find me a flight and I was open to the suggestions, despite of that I had to wait 36 h to the next flight. If there is anyway you can avoid flying out of this airport I would highly recommend that. Hopefully someone will take a lead and manage this airport better. Send the personal to LAX so they could get some training! Being a world traveler I can definitely say that all third world countries have much better operations than Santa Barbara airport. Fix your little planes and get to work early, do not wait till the very last moment to tell people that a flight to Cabo or Boston will take 36 hours. It’s a tiny airport and people usually have connections. Plus review your pricing! What are you people doing? You are not worth even what LAX charges. If you will not get it straight as soon as possible - this airport should be shut down. Another time I am driving to LaX and have only 2 hours to make it. STOP making fun of people - we pay the price and all you need to do it to check a bag fast and make sure an airplane takes off on time. Is that too much to ask?...
