Two months later and still no apology nor a retraction of their slandering of me! Shame on the ownership and management of this particular store. They have no business being in business whatsoever!
Original review: Shop here only if you want to be falsely accused of shoplifting in a hostile manner! I used to shop here every day spent thousands of dollars until one day I needed a shopping card and walked towards the front door wirh one item which I intended on placing inside the store before exiting to retrieve a shopping cart. But an employee who should have known I was a regular customer accused me of shoplifting jn a hostile manner. I told him I'm going outside to get a shopping cart and putting this item down before exiting. He said "that's not how it looked like to me", don't come back! Upon, contacting the store by email they took his side. Management are amateurs at handling such things the proper thing to say is do you want to pay for that item not it looks like you're stop lifting. But they didn't care, saying I passed the cash registers. However there's plenty of items to purchase past the cash registers and people often do beyond the cash registers to purchase those items at the front of the store so that point is moot as they have no sign that says that. In 50 years of shopping I have never been accused of shoplifting and the matter in which it was done was extremely upsetting he personally and intentionally inflicted emotional distress on me. These people do not deserve to be in business do not shop here. Grovery outlet bargain market stores are owned by different individuals so shop and another grocery outlet bargain market not the one on Morrissey unless you want to be falsely accused of crimes not committed even when it is explained to them.
In reply to your response to my review, kindly retract the implication that you publicly stated that you may have inferred that I may have in fact had intention of stealing based on falsehoods claiming that the employee waited for me to return with a cart. However the employee told me do not come back! So while he may have waited by the door he was not waiting to make sure I came back with a cart as you have claimed but rather that I did not come back! You have thus wittingly or unwittingly attempted to bismearch my character in defense of your wrongs committed against me. I took my time out of my busy day to alert you to this for the greater good. Your proper response should have been thank you for explaining this to us we regret and apologize for the misunderstanding you're welcome to come back and shop in our store anytime and if you would like you may ask a mamager to have that employee give you a personal apology. The proper thing for a clerk to say is are you going to pay for that, not it looked to me like you were shoplifting. So in good faith, I will allow you a do over to retract your maliscious response and replace it with the proper response that I have just penned for you. You're welcome.

Read moreGrocery Outlet is my dream come true—it's like walking into a grocery-themed treasure hunt every single visit. They consistently stock the foods and drinks I crave, making it feel like they've secretly hired a psychic to read my snack-loving mind. But here's the kicker: their prices aren't just good—they're so ridiculously low it feels like I'm playing grocery store Monopoly and winning every round.
Forget the hassle of signing up for endless loyalty programs just to shave off a few pennies. At Grocery Outlet, discounts come standard, no phone number required. Though, if you're into giving your number out for the occasional bonus coupon, they're cool with that too. When I roll up to the checkout with nearly a week's worth of groceries, I usually save around $150! Seriously, my savings sometimes outweigh the actual bill, making my wallet sing praises louder than an overly enthusiastic karaoke night.
And let's talk freshness—because somehow, despite these wallet-friendly prices, everything stays fresher longer than that loaf of bread at the back of your pantry. I'm convinced there's some kind of produce wizardry happening here. The food never goes bad before I get a chance to devour it, which honestly might just be magic.
What truly elevates Grocery Outlet to superhero status is the community impact. Prices here are so accessible that I've managed to stop visiting the food bank altogether, and that's huge. They're practically superheroes in the fight against hunger, making nutritious food affordable for everyone.
Navigating the store is easier than finding cat videos on YouTube, but on those rare occasions I need help, I never have to launch a search party—staff members magically appear exactly when needed. They're genuinely top-notch folks who clearly love their job and their customers.
Hands down, Grocery Outlet has secured its spot as my number one grocery shopping destination. If you haven't checked them out yet, do yourself a favor—your taste buds and bank account will thank you!

Read moreThe Santa Cruz location is quite small, and therefore everything is jam packed. I jump at the chance to go to other Grocery Outlets where the stores are pretty much all bigger, better lit and carry even more products. That said, this is my closest location and I've always found the staff to be very kind and helpful - so I keep going.
In general, I really enjoy Grocery Outlet because I find unique and unusual items that I wouldn't see in a regular grocery store at prices that make me willing to try new things. This is the place where I first purchased oat milk (which has become a staple in our house) as well as Milkadamia butter, and Strauss whole milk greek yogurt. I could really go on and on...dehydrated watermelon, giant bags of Luke's cheese puffs, unusual European cheeses, Tim Tam cookies and monkfruit powder!
The thing about Grocery Outlet is that things come and go - sometimes very quickly - that's the nature of their business in purchasing overstock products. Most products I mentioned above aren't currently stocked at Grocery Outlet, but the discovery of each is so delightful that I enjoy going back from time-to-time. I should mention that while many things I enjoy (the more unusual discoveries) do come and go, most of there staple items (milk, bread, produce, etc) are always in stock.
We've also discovered many wines that we really enjoy purchasing over and over again, with great prices. And the staff wine recommendations are always on point. Last, the produce is decent, as long as you use it within 5 or so days.
In summary, if you haven't ever been to a Grocery Outlet and are nearest to Santa Cruz's Morrissey location, you may find it bit overwhelming because it's so cramped, but you're sure to walk out with something new, reasonably priced, and possibly unusual, that...
