Horrible experience every time. If you haven't been here before, note you park on the side of the street leading up to the ferry. Unless the other ferries we have been to, this one has a very small holding area so not much space to wait here.
First time we came we didn't know about the waiting on the side thing and set off everyone's rage honking by cutting in accidentally. We realized and turned around.
It is very hard in general to tell how many cars will fit. Sometimes we are pretty far back and still fit. Sometimes we are very close and somehow don't fit.
They do not tell you which loading time you got. You just hope it's the next one. We arrived 25 minutes ahead of time today and were almost all the way up front. Didn't fit and now we wait 45 minutes until the next one. There is no way to turn back once you pay so...

My only gripe is when these Knuckleheads want to cut the line when they should go to the back of the line and knuckleheads that block peoples driveways when the road is clearly marked not to. Also, there are some entitled people who keep their motors running when the sign clearly says "No Idling". And occasionally at 4am in Southworth there are those who keep their lights one when the sign at the booth says to turn the lights off.
Other than that, things have improved, and the service has become more consistent. This time, I gave them a 5 star rating.
Thank You WA State...

The ferry from Fauntleroy to Vashon then to Southworth was 20 minutes late. The return trip from West Seattle Fauntleroy to Southworth was even worse: a 5:15pm ferry on Wednesday didn't even arrive at the dock until 5:50pm. RIDICULOUS AND AGAIN...RIDICULOUS. Hate what our poorly managed ferry system has become. It is a notion from the past that this system will run on posted times. If the powers that be are trying to run the ferries fully loaded then CHANGE THE POSTED SAILING TIMES TO REFLECT...
