I went here for a bit I should have finished my degree but did not that's on me. I did have great teachers then who prepared me for all the various things I have done in my life. Fast forward a (few,) years or so and I now have a daughter going there on A+ to transfer once she gets her Aa degree to K state to get a BS and perhaps going onto a medical field unless something changes . She has an excellent art teacher there who is continuing to teach her more art . My wife went for both her LPN and her RN at state fair. She had several great teachers as well . My sister graduated from there a few years back and works in eduction to this day for MU. My oldest brother graduated from there then on to kirksville to get his premed then off to med school eventually becoming a great surgeon. The school seems to turn out a lot of good students. It's only flaw is it not being a 4 year college. Its campus is huge for a two year school. But the 4 year thing is in the hand of politics for the most part. However it's still the nicest 2 year school of any I have seen. It also works educating factory mechanics for local factories. I got to go for a few of those too when I was being a maintenance worker at a local...
Read moreI had changed the account where I wanted them to deposit my financial aid. I wanted them to send it to my new bank. I called to verify that the change had been made correctly. The lady told me that it had and even read me the name of my new bank. Not only did the money not go to my new account, it didn't go to my old account either. Instead, it went to my mother's account at my old bank. I went into the financial aid office and told them the problem and they answered with, "Oops!" and did nothing. I took a two year break from State Fair only to find upon my return that my transcript had been, "thrown in the garbage" because they switched from a paper system to a computer system while I was gone and they "assumed" I wasn't going to come back. No one told them that the law forbids them from doing this. State Fair Community College is a joke. Update 2021 I'm so glad I didn't get a degree from state fair. I will soon graduate from an actual, professional...
Read moreI have graduated twice from SFCC; once for Automotive and once for Education. I have nothing but good things to say about both. I had the pleasure of taking many of my classes with the best instructors the college had to offer, and I think they can be ranked among the best in the state. I also wanted to point out that financial aid can be a very confusing process; the staff at SFCC were always pretty good to me about explaining things, but it's important to understand that the government makes the rules regarding aid. There's not much they can do in certain circumstances. About the only negative thing I have to add that the college itself doesn't have much control over is the attitude of students; both times I attended I felt like an outsider and it almost seemed as if there were "cliques" at the school; if you didn't fit in them then nobody cared about you...
