I've gone to this campus for 2 years, and so has my spouse. I love this campus, Clearwater is alright, Gibbs is trash, and the nursing one is on 66th and 49th is a little racist towards black people. I was accused of stealing because I was washing out my container and apparently a bunch of "black people" were stealing from them before so they assumed I was a thief. I'm an Army vet with 8yrs of active service, why would I be stealing from a community college??
Anyways back to Seminole, the advisors need some work, I was told I needed x amount of classes for a degree, and when I went to transfer to UF I was told I took waaaayyyy too many classes. So I would definitely double check with the university you have in mind what classes you should take because SPC is a business, and businesses are always finding new ways to take your money. That's honestly all colleges and universities though. Professors here are great, I probably had two out of like 26 teachers that I didn't like or agree with, and its because their teaching style or lack of knowledge. Most professors I've had were in the field for more than 10-15 yrs. Only a few teachers that I've seen had attitudes, and honestly i think it's because they have to deal with people constantly giving them attitude, and then asking stupid questions they've just answered only to practically test their knowledge on the subject that they've been teaching for years.
Their cafe is natures table, that place is trash. The school is always doing something for the students in the main lobby. Someone said this schools professors were extreme leftist, I'd have to disagree. My wife literally had a teacher who was a hardcore trumper and told the whole class climate change isn't real. I personally don't know how you can be an extreme left school in a Republican area full of rich white people, but who knows. He was probably a troll, and had that one teacher who was openly liberal. The only professors that ever spoke politics to me were my American history, and ethics teachers
The business center needs to find better ways to have people pay for their classes, after a semester if their are any balances, instead of calling to pay there should be a link to redirect you a place where you can pay that total. They need more tutors, too many people to the tutor ratio. Other than that the school is...
Read moreZERO! Constantly changing things around, including their student websites. Even lecture classes feel hybrid. Everything that happens has to go through a huge process of being appealed, then they "don't have it on file" and try to charge out of state tuition fees or more... ADVICE: KEEP ALL YOUR PAPERWORK & RECIEPTS FROM THIS SCHOOL!
I do not recommend TO ANYONE. EVER. And I will make this KNOWN. SPC lost someone finishing their A.S., planned on going all the way to my BSN here but I have had it with this unorganized/money hungry school.
(Not to mention how off-putting it was this summer to be reminded almost DAILY in class to sign up for fall. Then in emails and even TEXT messages from teachers asking everyone to sign up. According to my teacher they are at a "low" enrollment number. HUGE SHOCKER!!!!! .... not... ) Save yourself the headache and loads of b/s. Seriously. Ignore all these FAKE 5 star reviews they are egging...
Read moreReally bad campus. No extra help here what so ever. Very small food court with food poisoning products. 3 out of 3 times I've had food poisoning from 3 different meals which is pizza, chicken and a nasty looking pressed sandwich. The worst of all spc teachers seem to be located at this campus as well. This campus will have ton of University teachers that retire here just for the pay check and they would bring their hard work university level materials to a community college level school. All the 4.0 ratings or above teachers on rate my professor will be full within less than an hour. This campus does not seems care at all about why these teachers have such an extreme failing rate of students. You would have better luck just taking an online course than...
