I joined this library when I first moved to Florida. The service provided by the librarians is superb and so friendly. It is convenient to place holds on-line and pick up book(s) when available. The Sunday paper lists the top sellers and it's simple to go to the library website, place a hold, and then patiently wait for the book to become available. (Especially helpful for me is to check out recipe books and try different cuisines). I don't know why but I enjoy seeing which Pinellas County library a book comes in from. The library is small but has access to so many other locations.
With my membership, there is a bank of computers to access, classes to take and fun things to do. Tax time? Someone is able to help. In other words, a plethora of activities and info is readily available for all. There is a sign-up sheet for passes to an assortment of museums which is very helpful.
The library has an area where books can be purchased at a nominal fee. Outside you'll find a blessing box where non-perishable foods and toiletries can be donated or be taken for use.
The website recently changed and is a bit cumbersome but this is not done by the library. Plus, there is free on-site parking, easy in/out and it's ...
Read moreDisappointing Experience with Youth Services Head Librarian Jill : My daughter and I have been regular attendees of the library classes at Seminole Public Library, and we've always enjoyed our visits. However, our recent encounter with the head librarian, Jill, left us feeling unwelcome and disappointed.
Due to our tardiness, we arrived late to a class, which was understandably full. No issue there; our fault entirely. Instead, we decided to spend some time in the children's section, a usual highlight of our visits. However, we were approached by Jill, who insisted that my daughter, who is learning to walk, put on socks and shoes. When I inquired about this rule, Jill was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation or show us where this rule was posted.
Despite knowing that it's beneficial for babies to learn to walk barefoot, Jill insisted on enforcing this arbitrary rule. Her demeanor was unwelcoming and bordered on a power trip, making us feel uncomfortable in a public space funded by our tax dollars.
If you're considering visiting Seminole Public Library, I would advise against it, especially if you encounter Jill. The experience would undoubtedly be improved if someone like Ms. Gabby were in...
Read moreYeah I used to come to this library many moons ago. But it seems it is in complete control of the college. I think I will stick with the Barbara S. Ponce Library which was closed today and tomorrow. But I have other reasons why this is not going to be my go to library again.
Transportation - It used to take me just two buses to get out here. Now it's three.
Printing - For starters, they don't have the princh system. That's where you can print from your laptop or your phone. The other is the payment system. Even though they still have the prepaid card system. The debit/credit system charges a one time 40 cent charge.
Some of the staff just gives you dreadful looks like you don't belong.
The cafe is closed. Even though it has probably been closed for years or maybe less than that.
I feel more comfortable in a PPLC (Pinellas Public Library Cooperative) system instead of the college. Even though I know the library is still in the PPLC. Their internet and printing/copying system isn't.
Today will be my first and last coming here. I should have left the past...
