Quit Carbon and its staff have been so incredibly supportive and helpful in gathering together the huge assortment of incentives, rebates, and tax credits, including the occasional income related incentives that I was surprised to find out I am qualified for. You too might be surprised as well. I cannot encourage you enough to utilize this free service to remove gas appliances from your home and go green. By time shifting your electrical use and making the most of battery storage, if you can, you can future proof your electric bill.i already had solar, but learned I qualified for a virtually free solar battery to complete my full electrification. Utilizing their services will cost you nothing and you may be as surprised as I was to find out what’s available. Do it now while the Inflation Reduction Act is still in force and the funds from the state and PG&E are available. Oh, and before the tariffs kick in!

Very knowledgeable and lower bid compared to electrician I found myself. 200A panel upgrade, inside to outside meter relocation and added Tesla car charger as first steps to quit gas! I did the outside painting to help blend the meter with the wall color. For a cleaner look we called Xfinity and AT&T to cut off their old wires as we use fiber internet for phone and videos. QuitCarbon website very useful to inventory and track all house appliances and upgrades to collect energy rebates.

QuitCarbon is fantastic! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. They provide 100% free, extremely useful advice/support ( if you’re exploring or interested in making any electrical efficiency upgrades to your house! (eg, heat pump for HVAC, heat pump water heater, induction stove, etc.). They’re like your own personal expert you talk to up front and along the way — so so helpful.

More details:

When I was first pointed in their direction, I actually didn't know what they did. I was trying to figure out whether to replace my natural gas powered hot water heater in a 1930s house with a heat pump water heater, and I was feeling really frustrated after reaching out to 5-6 contractors and receiving very contradictory advice on what I needed to do, what incentives I would qualify for, and what it would cost. Price estimates ranged from $12k-$18k. I got on the phone with QuitCarbon, and within 3-4 minutes, I was feeling so much better. (Amelia is awesome!)

They were exactly what I needed -- they helped me think through the technical specs of what I had and what my options were, stepped through each of the incentive options that I could qualify for under various scenarios ($2-5k), AND they told me that I should be able to get a quote under $10k and introduced me to an excellent contractor. I was feeling so much better about being able to make an informed decision, but I still doubted I'd be able to get an estimate under $10k -- but they were right! My new HPWH is scheduled to be installed in 2 weeks, by a contractor with 150+ 5 star reviews on Yelp for under $10k!

They provided all of this support & advice (2 phone calls and probably 8-10 emails back and forth) 100% free! Again, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND QuitCarbon if you're looking into making any electrical efficiency upgrades...

Quit Carbon (Marcus Cooper) was extremely helpful in guiding us thru the process to get the PGE rebates thru the California Smart Home Energy Program. While we were already well along on our way to being carbon free, the only things left for us to do was replace our dual fuel range with a Fisher Paykel induction range and replace our washer dryer set up with an LG washer dryer heat pump stack. And we did. If we were starting from scratch and needed contractors to deal with electric upgrades, solar panels, back up batteries, heat pump hot water and heating, Quit Carbon would have generated revenues through referral agreements etc. In our case they did not because we already did these things, but they nevertheless met with us on Zoom and advised us on the rebate process. It is clear to me that Quit Carbon is very mission driven; they are not in it just for the money. What a relief to work with people that put values and mission over profit. As such, we made a modest donation to them, and we encourage others in a similar position as us to do the same. The East Bay, and Berkeley in particular, is very fortunate to have Quit Carbon in our community. Quit Carbon gets my...

We recently had a heat pump system installed to replace our 30 year old HVAC system. Knowing absolutely nothing about heat pumps, but wanting to switch to an efficient electric HVAC, we went to the QuitCarbon website. The information we found there and their staff helped us learn about heat pumps and how to make the best decision for our needs, including referring us to a vetted contractor and helping us compare project proposals from that contractor and all of the other contractors we had submit bids. Ted and Cooper answered our many, many, many (so very many!!) questions before, during and after our installation and continue to do so now, nearly 5 months after completion. Being retirees we were very concerned about changing over to a new, unknown (to us) technology, the cost and our concerns about being taken advantage of. Ted’s and Cooper’s assistance gave us the confidence to proceed. And, it’s all free!!! Really, I can’t recommend QuitCarbon...
