Great Lakes Ace — Local services in Shelby Charter Township

Today is Fathers Day, and my boys and I came here to buy my husband a gift for their dad. My one son needed to change a $100 bill. We were all going in for their dad. Teaching my boys to use their own money, too. That they both work very hard for. We were made to feel so small when my son asked to change his larger bill. The lady at the cash register was yelling. I need back up here with a horrible attitude, then shouted for a manager. We just needed change, so we had the correct amount for the purchase. She was very rude to us. I felt like we were in that movie Terms of Endearment when the cash register lady yelled in to the PA system I need back up here she doesn't have enough money. I should have left the store and went to Home Depot. We just needed to change a larger bill before the purchase. It wasn't that difficult of a task. We did an online order for a pick up in store for a battery powered mower. Closest store was 45 minutes from our home and was the Shelby Great Lakes Ace. Ends up, the factory forgot to pack the batteries that were supposed to come with the mower. So, after a 45 minute drive home, we had to turn around to return it. When we arrived the store manager was waiting for us with batteries and a gift card for our trouble. Didn't even need to return the mower and reorder like we thought we were going to have to do. Super great for them to correct the error when it was not their issue, and we are appreciative of it for sure. A great alternative to the bigger stores like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. If you value your time at all the slightly higher prices - and sometimes the prices here are actually lower - are offset by the ability to easily find what you need. Of course if you need the exercise and would rather spend time shopping than anything else, this may not be the store for you. But if you like to get in and out and back to whatever you're working on, this is a great choice.

On the downside however, this location seems to be the most poorly stocked in the area. I've had to travel to stores in Utica, Macomb, and Rochester for the last 5 items I needed because they were out of stock here in Shelby. And last week, barely halfway through February, they had no...
