I lived in Tucson for 26 years where there are world-renowned restaurants - especially Italian and Mexican restaurants. For those who don't know, Tucson has been rated #1 in gastronomy by UNESCO. Eataliana is what I have been searching for since I moved back to Michigan to be with family in 2021. I have searched for REAL Italian cuisine and this little, tiny, place is the BEST! The owners cook with love and bring back authentic recipes from Roma, Italy. They know what they're doing and it's like having your own Italian nonna prepare homemade pasta and fresh EVERYTHING for you. The owners are friendly, funny and care deeply about what they serve and your experience. And save room for the tiramisu, my friends. It sells out for a reason. They have a fruit tiramisu that you cannot get elsewhere, and it's like a heavenly whip of cream with cake, fresh strawberries and blueberries, that just melts into a symphonic pillow of flavor joy in your mouth. Their food is glorious! I hesitated about writing a review at all because I don't want too many people going here and possibly making me wait for a table (there are only four booths). In warmer months, they have some tables outside to supplement. It hardly seems the spot for such royal fare, as it's under the same roof as the Great Lakes ACE Hardware on Shelby Road, but I'm telling you, do NOT be fooled! I think Gordon Ramsay himself would be smitten. I am also sorry, but I didn't take photos cuz I was too busy eating with...
Read moreUpdate: This place has been in a rapid decline in quality and service. Portions shrunk, the owner was very rude when they mixed up our order with someone elses. He almost didn't correct it amd basically blamed it on me. More things I could list but just overall not as good as it once was.
Owner and his family are kind and generous people. They show true excitement when someone walks in the door, even if it is 10 minutes before they close. Clean facility, consistent service and meal quality. Portions are perfect - most dishes will be lunch tomorrow or a late night snack. They even sell their homemade pasta frozen. You can buy it in bulk for an event - bday party, holiday party, work party, etc. Each pasta dish comes with fresh salad with homemade dressings & and a dinner roll. I'm not sure if their desserts are fresh or hand made but I effing love the creme brulee and the berry tiramisu.
Its kind of tough to find if you don't know of it to begin with. Its connected to ACE Hardware behind the Marathon but its kind of recessed so its...
Read moreWhen my parents and I first arrived, we were taken aback at the appearance of the place. I was a little surprised when they didn't bring out waters right away, and they make you order some from the case, which they charge you for. Tap water would be fine with me. The salads that came with the dinner were mediocre, at best. One piece of onion, one grape tomato, store bought dressings. I didn't like how the owner tried to sell us an appetizer right from the get go either. The pasta however is exceptional. I ordered the veggie lasagna with added marinara sauce on top. It was enormous, and the best veggie lasagna I've ever had. The other two dinners were spaghetti and meatballs with marinara, and spaghetti with bolognese sauce, both delicious. We left with the palomino sauce to go, and the large rigatoni to go for another delicious pasta meal at home later in the week. Overall, it was a positive experience, but they really need to improve on...
