Mae Stecker Park — Local services in Shelby Charter Township

Shaded play area by the tennis courts with plenty of benches and picnic tables- by the CLEAN and well-maintained rest rooms. A pond with a trail to walk around. A fairy garden on that trail, on the same side as all the municipal buildings. There is a deck overlook on the pond. There are modern basketball courts with a strange (maybe polymer?) floor. I have been taking my family here for 10 years and the court still looks new. There is a separate play structure from the other two, between the pavilion and basketball courts. It is a younger child structure. My kids always wanted to go on that one, when we needed to be by the other one at the tennis courts! It is the bigger of the two younger aged structures. There is also a sand volleyball court and a baseball field.

It is a busy place during Homecoming and Prom. A lot of the local teens come here to take photographs. Even weddings.

The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is because they have not replaced some playground equipment that was taken out. - 2 bouncy animals. And they have not repaired two parts of the older equipment- the walk-across (one of the plastic pillars’ anchor to the ground was busted so it swings), and the corkscrew slide.

It seems like vandals, so maybe cameras would help. They do have rewards if you turn in people who purposely destroy the equipment.

I absolutely love this park. My wife and I walk the small circuit around the lake with our dogs (although we must walk around the outside of the garden, as dogs aren't allowed in there). The garden itself is gorgeous, and there are wedding pictures being taken there all the time in the evenings. If you are into Pokemon Go, there's tons of stops to spin, and walking around the pond even at a brisk pace perfectly times all the stops so that by the time you are back to one you have already spun, it's blue and you can spin it again! There are a couple gyms on the path as well, although they get taken back quickly. We farm items here on our lunch breaks all the time. The tennis courts are in decent shape, and there's pickup basketball games and league baseball games all the time. The playground equipment is in fantastic condition, and the pond itself has all kinds of wildlife, including some decent fishing. A BEAUTIFUL PARK IN SHELBY TOWNSHIP to take your children for a picnic, walk through the little trails in the wooded area, sit on benches and feed the ducks, and just relax there on your own!! A volley ball net, basketball net , restrooms, quiet and peaceful...... IT ALSO has a beautiful area specially made for outdoor weddings! this includes a water pond, a little bridge, a pavillian just enough room inside for taking pictures of any occasion, but it is known for a bridal party.......after they have said their vows right there in MAE STECKER PARK!!!
