I am still traumatized from my experience at Spa Hollywood. Normally I go to my girl @ Fresh downtown if I need a cut and root color but she was booked solid through the new year. I really wanted my hair to look great for the holidays. Before this experience I had always thought of Spa Hollywood as this "high-class" establishment that I could never step foot in based on their reputation around town, but it was the middle of December and I wanted to "treat" myself so I called and they scheduled me an appointment with a stylist named "Arpad" After meeting him I explained that my wedding was in less than 6 weeks (2/9/18) and I didnt want any drastic changes. Arpad was more interested in telling me his life story and all of his personal drama and he clearly did not hear a word I said. I asked for a trim and root color touch up, I got my hair butchered and fried. After 6 hours of torture he presented me w/ the finished product. I was horrified by what I saw in the mirror but somehow I found the words to ask him what happened to all of my hair, he said "its just hair, it will grow" because I was unhappy, he said that my next cut would be "on him" then he walked me to the desk to pay for his services, the nice cashier asked me how my experience was - I broke down in tears, she brought me to the back spa room and got the salon manager. I explained the situation and the manager told me that the owner, Tes, would make this right. She would see me and do her best to fix my hair, I was desperate so I agreed to see Tes on 12/18/17. When I arrived I quickly discovered there was no actual appointment scheduled for me. The salon manager left a sticky note at the desk w/ my name but none of the girls knew who I was or why I was there. Eventually they figured it out and Tes came out to speak with me. I had a zip up hoodie on to hide my afro pixie, Tes asked me to take the hood off so she could see my hair - we were standing in the middle of this busy salon entrance and I was mortified. She noticed that I was crying and brought me to her chair - it was obvious to me that she had no intentions of fixing my hair but I explained that I could not go one more day looking like a troll doll. She asked her assistant to stay longer so they could squeeze me in for a fix.
Looking at my rats nest - Tes told me that she wanted my hair to "pop" so she convinced me to process my hair AGAIN, I expressed my concern with the bleach process as Arpad had already done significant damage. Tes assured me that the bond builder she uses in her bleach would completely protect the integrity of my hair - those were her exact words. Seeing my crispy fried ends, I said again that my hair looks too damaged for another process but She said it wasn’t damaged, it was just a bad haircut. Tes then applied bleach all over my head, saran wrapped it, & sat me under a heat dryer for 45+ minutes while she serviced her other clients. I could feel the skin on the back of my neck burning so I kept moving out from under the heat dryer but her assistant kept putting the dryer back on my head. They rinsed my hair & brought me back to her chair. When she removed the towel I saw that my hair was falling out by the chunk. I had wet noodle bleach damaged hair aka a "chemical cut" Tes wouldn’t even trim what was left of my hair to prevent it from tearing out (which it did), she just handed me some half used bottles of product & told me not to mess with it. On my way out she told me this was all "her treat," tried to book another service apt but I would NEVER let her touch my hair again. After a few weeks of healing my wounds and my hair I reached out to the salon and requested some form of compensation to cover the cost of my wigs and medical bills, I received no response. I wish this experience on NO ONE. Having no hair depletes you of any self confidence and self esteem you have.and I am still trying to gain mine back. The worst part of all this is that I never once received an apology from anyone there . A heartfelt I'm so sorry goes a...
Read moreI had nicole for a pedicure, but it was horrible. This was my first pedicure I have had since last April and I am very frustrated with the service I experienced with Nicole. Not only was she complaining that she had a "headache" but she appeared to be extremely tired or "out of it." It was as if I was annoying her for booking a pedicure. Like she would rather have been anywhere else than where she was at the moment. My leg would continuously slide it the edge of the foot pedastal and instead of placing my foot back in the correct position, she allowed it fall off numerous times and she also attempted to work on my feet from a bizarre angle. I asked her very, very politely 3x to please apply more pressure as she was rubbing my feet, she ignored me each time until she said "sorry, I'm not that strong." Im sorry, but if you're not strong enough to rub feet during a pedicure to a client's preferences, you shouldn't be working in a luxury salon. I don't expect to pay $65.00 prices for a strip mall hole in the wall experience. Lastly, my 5m old had fallen asleep during the pedicure. As it was time for me to get up, nicole offered absolutely no assistance to help me up, move the arm rest up so I could even get out of the chair, or help me grab my bags. I was absolutely appalled and have never experienced such a horrendous service here. I felt nearly 100x more stressed out when I was finished than when I had arrived. Prior to this I had an AMAZING Brazilian wax with Jennifer, she was so polite, she was patient with my daughter and even allowed me to nurse her during my wax. She then assisted me to my next place of service by carrying my bags and opening all of the doors for me as I had my hands full with a sleeping newborn. Hillary did my daughters mani and pedi and she was beyond fantastic with her. Hillary was so loving and so kind to my 7 year old. My daughter was very happy that Hillary gave her extra gold fish.
Lastly, as I was checking out, when I was asked by the sweet girl at the front how my service was, I was honest with her. She was not only as shocked as I was, but she was extremely apologetic and more than willing to make my disaster of a service right. Not only that, as I was rummaging through my diaper bag to find my card to pay, she even offered to hold my 5m old daughter and actually had her smiling and laughing.
Stressful situation for me, great time for my 7 year old... Hillary, Jennifer, the sweet lady from the spa who offered to fix my daughters nails (got messed up during the massage) and Amanda went above and beyond to make sure my girls and I had the experience we paid for.... and for that I am grateful. But I will absolutely never book with Nicole ever again. It was truly a pitiful experience from her for the...
Read moreAlthough I have been to Spa H a few times for massages and mani/pedis, they have totally lost all of my business. When I got to the salon, I explained that my hair has a hard time holding a curl, but with enough product it will hold and I REALLY wanted a lot of curl. The stylist explained that she had done hair for weddings at the Ritz & Hyatt so it wouldn't be a problem and went to work styling my hair in a "waterfall." My first clue that something was wrong was when I had to point out that curls were starting to fall while I was still sitting there. She told me it was because they didn't set as long as the others and recurled them. I got home about 2 hours before my party and within an HOUR my hair totally fell. I had next to NO curl left and half of my braid had fallen out as well. Needless to say I was upset. When I called the salon, the receptionist said that everyone had left for the day and she couldn't get ahold of the manager. I ended up spending $60 to put my hair in a ponytail for the party.
When the manager did call me the following Monday she tried to give the excuses that it was humid (71%) and this stylist had never done my hair before. At no point on the phone did she ever truly apologize for the problem or even sound sympathetic. When I hung up on her, I felt that she was saying it was MY fault for having someone do my hair that had never done it before. I have been in A LOT of weddings and I have NEVER had my hair style fall out before, and none of those ladies had touched my hair before that day. As for the "humidity," I was inside the entire time, except to and from the car. And even then, I was always under the impression that stylists take these things into consideration. Clearly not at this salon.
In the end, I did get my money refunded but at no point did I ever get an actual heartfelt apology. Lesson learned, Spa Hollywood can't style your hair, unless they have already seen and styled it before. I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. Honestly had the manager simply said," I am really sorry this happened. This is clearly not up to our standards. Why don't you relax with a massage on us." I would have been perfectly happy. But to not even get a simple real apology shows that they really don't care about...
