I read all these negative reviews about this restaurant I’ve been going to for almost 50 years and it just gives me a sick feeling. Mostly because there’s a lot of truth in them. Food quality has declined and customer service feels like he’s doing you a favor by serving you. Hours are shorter so the kids can’t go by after school anymore. Many complain about the prices which don’t really bother me, however, considering that a wiener costs between 20 -28 cents, a bun around 16 cents it’s difficult to understand how a hot dog lunch would be so expensive. It sounds like someone might have given themselves an undue hefty raise if they can’t make profit with those margins. The owners response to criticism is mostly something about not having hand dipped corn dogs and how the family has been in business for 50 years along with attempting to belittle commenters. He just doesn’t get it. You’re only as good as the last food and service you provided to a customer. Leaning on the 50 year thing is just stupid in the business world when you conduct business the way you are doing. My dad passed away and I hadn’t had a chance to even eat breakfast. By 1:30 I was starving and in need of some comfort food and a quiet place to eat it and just unwind in an old familiar place. I made it there at 1:50 knowing they close at 2:00 so I figured I’d just get something to go and not hold up closing time. NOPE, I was told (politely) that he was done for the day even though the lights were on and the door was still unlocked. I had driven way out of my way to go there. I was crushed. I’m not sure how he expects his business to survive by not adhering to his already shortened business hours and treating long time customers like that. This use to be a really great place with excellent service, awesome food and reasonable prices. Wake up man!!!!!!!!! Before it’s too late. I want your place to still be around for my...
Read moreI normally don't post anything bad but this was just like how are you still open type thing. I went in for the first and last time. The dinning area smelled like mold and was just dirty. I ordered and then owner told me it was slow so he has a limited menu so I ordered my food. Let's just say I'm never going back his chili dog which he says is known for I didnt even eat. The burger was just as bad . The fries were so oily that it seeped through the wax paper and into and through 7 napkins. Eat at your own risk. This place would be so much better if he took pride in what he sold and had higher quality product. Its way overpriced also $22 for chili dog burger coke and fries....
Read moreOwner was great, had a lovely conversation, and he couldn’t have been any nicer! Steered me in the right direction on what I should eat for lunch! He hooked it up with 2 of their famous chili dogs and I’m completely blown away, I kick myself in rear for not coming here sooner! I don’t understand the negative reviews because the atmosphere is great, owner is awesome, the food is beyond delicious, and it’s so very reasonably priced! People always find a reason to gripe and complain, I’ve got no complaints other than wishing I got more food!! Thank you again for a delicious dining experience, I’ll be...
