Robbery, rodents and a horrible experience. I lived at The Grove during the 18/19 school year, needless to say it did not live up to expectations. 1: It started with move ins, our air conditioning and washing machine did not work for the first week. The carpet is a thin, cheap piece of fabric that overlays concrete, ours didn’t even reach the walls in some places. There were holes in our walls that had been poorly plastered over, and chips everywhere. 2: About halfway through the year I began hearing critters running around our ceiling early in the morning, I made a call to the office and explained the situation, I was told it would be taken care of shortly. A couple weeks later I was told that they would need to hire an outside source to handle the problem. I listened to the rats? squirrels? or mice for over three months before the problem was taken care of two weeks before I moved out of the apartment. 3: The cherry on top of everything I’ve written above, during the second semester one of my roommates left late one night to head to one of his buddies apartments. The following morning I woke up to find out that someone had entered and robbed our apartment, taking our TV. The people that robbed our apartment also robbed my neighbors, stealing a couple thousand worth of things along with a car. The grove told me this wasn’t their problem and I needed to contact the police. The grove never told any other residents about the robberies that occurred that night or brought the robberies to the public eye. Fast forward to 2019, I no longer live at the apartment complex but there have already been two huge incidents. The first was a shooting that took place over a parking spot, with someone discharging a gun at the complex. The second was a robbery that resulted with someone getting their skull fractured. It’s safe to say I would avoid the grove, there are better quality and safer apartments at...
Read moreGiving this place even one star was the hardest thing to do in my life, as I'm writing this review in my house in the Grove I'm being devoured by the fleas that infested my house 4 weeks ago that was supposed to have been "taken care of" by management not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES since reporting the infestation. Oh and did I mention the rodents that live in the walls? And by rodents I mean field mice that will get into anything and everything and chew on anything they find. You also can't forget the broken glass in front of the apartment doors and behind cars because kids here think it's "funny 'cuz it happened to someone else." Oh yea, if you're moving into the Grove and have friends, family, or a significant other you should go ahead and say your goodbyes, as the Grove will attempt to charge you 2 months worth of rent on top of your regular rent (yes 3 months total equaling $1450.00) for a breach of contract if they so much as spend the night at your house that you're paying over $600.00 for. And that's without utilities of course. Yea I know they say utilities are included, but they've never told the truth before so why start there? They tell you that you won't have to worry about your overages on utilities because you get such a high cap (spoiler, no you don't). However what they don't tell you is that you can be gone for 3 out of the 4 weeks of a month and somehow use enough electricity to power a small city block. Which I know from experience of them trying to charge me an extra $300.00 when I was gone 28 out of the 30 days that month. A final word of caution to the parents out there considering letting their kids move in here, they WILL take advantage of your child, and they will try their hardest to force your child to make MAJOR FINANCIAL DECISIONS WITHOUT THE...
Read moreI don’t think I’ve ever truly disliked living somewhere like I do here. Maintenance will let themselves into your apartment & bedroom unannounced to do inspection. Maitnence allowed themselves in days after we were told they’d be there, and after a request that they only go in when someone is home since we have pets.(why ask us if you can come in when no one’s here if you won’t respect the answer?) Management will give you headaches with submitting paperwork. I had to submit my renters insurance 6 times because they couldn’t read 1 more line of words to see that a mailing address & insured address were both listed. The gate hasn’t worked since October (it’s almost July). When my father (who helps pay my rent so he deserves to know what’s up) called to ask about it they lied and told him security has increased & someone is always at the gate checking in residents & guests. I haven’t seen security at the gate since Halloween and again when cops & ambulances were here graduation weekend. Security is rarely here & don’t bother calling them if there’s an emergency. I tried calling security because someone was trying to open our windows from the outside during a party night but never got an answer and would’ve had to call police if things progressed. The clubhouse offers many things, but if you work a full time job or go to school full time you’ll never get to see it because the amenities closes with the office. I understand that they have to lock things up. But it sucks when your paying almost $800 a month to be lied to, and feel unsafe. Management gives half a$$ed apologies but does nothing to fix things. Don’t waste your money living in a “gated community” that isn’t even gated or watched by security. Oh and have fun getting new tires from the amount of broken glass you’ll...
