If you are reading this review, this is your sign to not live here or have your future college student live here. I lived here for almost four years, (only because i don’t want to keep moving my stuff in and out again) and management has changed way too many times, which has overall caused disruptions with paying rent, switching portals, etc. the only good management team i’ve ever seen this place have is the one they have this semester (fall 23) so shoutout to them because you all have made my senior year living here much more enjoyable.
to start off, the ivy over charged my roommate and I electric for months. We were being charged 330+ a month for a literal two bedroom apartment. my actual house that has three floors doesn’t even cost that much a month. they barely compensated us for it, and honestly this place is an overall rip off. you pay so much money a month for amenities that barely even work half the time.
for example, the complementary tanning beds were shut down for basically a whole year (after covid when they had no reason to be shut down, the management at the time blamed it on their property managers not being trained, which is absolutely ridiculous)
the gym has had one treadmill shut down for over a year when there’s supposed to be three working ones. very annoying and inconvenient when the gym is crowded. the gym is also very dirty. for the last month, there has been some kind of animal hair all over the floor, which is very gross and unprofessional. not sure why an animal would be in the gym anyways, but regardless, I have severe allergies that I get weekly injections for, and even being around a strand of animal hair can make me break out in hives. it’s sad because i used to love working out at the ivy gym, until the floor started being mysteriously covered with dog hair. just so gross.
the other really messed up thing that this apartment complex does is they have workers enter your unit without even telling you. this has happened to me and multiple of my friends, which is so highly unprofessional and just scary. not acceptable.
i would also like to mention that the door to my building has been broken for literally a year. i’ve begged them to fix it, and so have my parents. i am the apartment right by the main door, on the first floor, and because they haven’t fixed it, bugs have managed to crawl in.
when i came back over winter break, i found so many dead beetles, spiders, flies and moths all over my floor. i’ve had to kill three giant spiders this week, and the amount of drain flies i’ve had to pick up off my floor is ridiculous. it is not suitable for living, especially when you are paying about $700 a month in rent.
to top it all off, the ivy does not read into their contracts in terms of resident living. when i first moved in, they placed me and two others girls in an apartment with a girl who had a shedding animal, which as a mentioned earlier is a big no go for me, due to my severe allergies. we had to fight tooth and nail for the leasing office to get this changed, and the person who was doing room assignments SKIPPED over the section where I specified I cannot live with dogs that shed, and they tried telling my mother and I that we didn’t specify, when we clearly did. Then, I got a call the other day about someone potentially moving in here with a cat and i lost it. The workers are not attentive to the residents living preferences, and it shows. (probably because management had been switched over way too much that they probably lost everything)
There is so much more that I could go on and on about. If I could give this place a zero star review I would.
BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT LIVE HERE. IT IS NOT WHAT ITS ADVERTISED TO BE! SAVE YOURSELF AND...
Read moreWHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T LIVE HERE. The property is beautiful on the outside, but the amount of problems I have had living here is ridiculous. Nothing ever gets fixed even if you put in work orders for maintenance. A prime example of this is that the previous residents of my current appartment contact papered all of the cabinets and I was assured it would be taken care of. My roommate and I have put in several work orders and nothing had been done about it. We were told it was going to be done in September, it’s now the end of June… Another this is that buildings hallways are never cleaned and always disgusting. Someone in my building has had a trash bag sitting outside of their apartment for WEEKS and nothing has been done so the entire building smells like garbage. Also the pool is still green and is a literal swamp. There are frogs living in it and bugs SWARMING the entire pool area. This is an amenity that’s included in my lease, that I cannot use even though it’s 90 degrees outside. If this issue isn’t resolved in the next week i’m calling OSHA and the Pennsylvania Department of Health because it’s that bad and genuinely unsafe to be around. Not to mention our apartment building is infested with june bugs and it hasn’t been taken care of. They swarm me everytime I try to walk into my apartment and they cover the floors of the buildings hallway. Every “amenity” is not up-kept and it’s unacceptable. The grill area at the clubhouse it DISGUSTING and needs cleaned, the pool furniture is foul, all the pool sticks at the pool table are broken, there is no ping pong balls at the ping pong table, the volleyball court hasn’t been touched, and the basketball courts net is broken. There’s a jar in the clubhouse for residents to write suggestions that they NEVER READ, FIX THE PROBLEMS, OR ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS so don’t even bother putting them in there. It is way too expensive to live here for everything to be broken and nothing to be done about it. In addition, there is supposed to be security but there is NONE. They fired them all randomly with no notice because this company has no money even though I pay so much to live here. Under my lease it says security is provided but they fired them in September and never hired anyone else. That’s simply misleading, shady, and unfair. Everyone I know that lives here is unhappy and complains about a million things also. Choose another apartment complex in Slippery Rock unless you want to waste your money and time trying to solve issues that the management is supposed to. I want to make it clear it’s not the workers in the office that are the problem it is the MANAGEMENT! I bet at the end of this I’m going to get a “thank you for your feedback” bullshit from the management and frankly I don’t even want to hear it at this point so...
Read moreThe apartment itself is fine. they’ll only show you bigger ones to tour but even the smaller ones are still enough space. that’s where the good things end though. i have had the absolute worst experience of my life living here. the kids that work at the office are always very sweet and helpful, however every time you call to ask a question you get a different answer. this is not their fault, it’s the management. i want to reiterate that. the kids working in the office have been nothing but incredibly helpful and understanding. every issue with this place comes down to management. i’m pretty sure we went through five property managers in the one year that i lived there. they started sending out lease renewals in october and pressured residents to sign as the rent would only increase. after only two months of living there i renewed because i was scared i wouldn’t be able to afford it if it went up. biggest mistake of my life. since then i have dropped out, so why would i need student housing if i’m not a student? now i find myself paying $800 in rent for a place i don’t even live. for months before the new lease went into effect (7/25/23) i tried to get out of my new lease. i tried paying, i had a lawyer go through the lease, i called and asked many many times what i could do. the answer was nothing. you cannot get out of a lease in any way shape or form unless you get someone to take over it (which is an additional $600 charge) this place makes its money by screwing over teens and young adults who are on their own for the first time. they also refuse to “help” with a lease transfer, and when someone called to ask questions about my lease they told him the unit was not available and hung up, knowing full well what i was trying to do. they do everything in their power to get every last cent out of you, including just tacking random fees onto your rent. more than once i had to call about a new fee just to be told “oh i’m not sure why that’s there. we will take it off” and what if i didn’t catch it? i would just be paying extra for nothing? the buildings are gross and mine doesn’t even have a doorknob or a door that shuts all the way. i had a horse fly infestation and nothing was done, now i come back after 2 days of not being there and find rat poop on the ground. Candee, the COO of the company who manages it now, is truly disrespectful and power hungry. she thinks she deserves everyone’s respect while treating her residents like garbage. absolutely just...
