Michaels — Local services in Smithfield

I don't usually post reviews of stores, but I had an experience this morning that was super negative and I think the store should know, since I was in such a hurry to leave after from the experience.

I normally love going to this store. They always have excellent stock and the employees are usually very helpful and friendly. I went this morning to pick up an online order. Before I grabbed my order, I decided to walk around and browse. I ended up finding a coloring book to buy. I went over to the self check out to buy.

I had a coupon on the app that I wanted to see if I could use. As I started typing in the code, I heard "That's not going to work" yelled from behind me. When I turned around, there was an employee sitting on the ground behind the counter. She then yelled it again and I had no idea what she was talking about. She then asked me very rudely, "What are you doing?" not getting up from the floor. I told her I was typing in the coupon code. She then got up from the floor and finally came over, asking me again what I was doing. Then she said, "The code doesn't work you have to scan it" in a very rude tone, like I was stupid. She then had me scan it and the coupon didn't work. She asked me what I was buying, again in a super rude tone. I showed her the coloring book. She said "Oh yeah that won't work on books." Again, with a super rude tone, and walked away.

I've worked in customer service for 6 years, and this is not the way to speak to someone. It really left a bad taste in my mouth, and I hope the store manager sees this and teaches their employees how to speak to customers with...

This store seems smaller than the ones I was used to in North Carolina and Florida. Seems to carry more home decor and a little less art stuff. But with its location, it has to compete with smaller home decor and antique stores. Discount art stores like blicks and Jerry's artarama are within 12 miles, so this store may not have that many sales of art supplies. With that bring said, they carry some of the higher end materials and less artist loft student grades. My only complaint, is they do not stock derwent inktense blocks and pencils. They also seemed to not have a clearance section.

Good news is, they seem to have more for paper crafters. Stuff I could not find at...

Went into Michael’s tonight and as I’m about to check out, an employee yells at me to watch out for a broken and spilled gold paint bottle but it was already too late and my wife and I were standing in it. Instead of apologizing, or picking it up when it first fell… she proceeded to turn to her coworker and continue to gossip. Got on my wife’s Uggs. She’s not too happy. Would’ve been fine if there was some sort of sense of urgency or apology.. or if she didn’t step in it at all because it was picked up when it was dropped/spilled. What if I were an old lady and slipped and fell… it was practically the whole bottle of paint. Not pleased, and now my wife has...
