What a delicious find, and pretty darn close to home! It's a very homey, ranch style atmosphere. You're greeted by a huge stagecoach sitting just inside the door, of which I regret not taking a picture. Service was swift, we were seated just prior to what looked like a decent Tuesday dinner rush. Beers were ice cold, chosen from a nice selection of mostly New Mexico brewers. The appetizer we chose was the gouda Mac n cheese bites. They were amazing on their own, as I rarely dip anything in ranch, the offered sauce. I WOULD, however, dip them in a ramekin of their homemade tomato bisque soup. Velvety flavorful and on point, that soup deserves a beautiful adult grilled cheese to accompany it. Wow. I definitely recommend the soup. My husband had the chicken fried steak and I chose the ultimate smokehouse burger. Both portions were large, cooked perfectly and as described on the menu. Absolutely stuffed, we took dessert home, a bread pudding and piece of chocolate cake. The bread pudding was just like grandma would have made, and the cake was not only massive but a nice moist dark chocolate. Too much for me in one sitting. My only comment was that between the 5 servers that approached our table, there didn't seem to be a ton of communication. So it felt slightly disorganized, nothing was wrong, just confusing. I will also say they were quite young, and I'm a seasoned server, so I watch and thats my assessment. The establishment was clean and welcoming. The meal was excellent and even the kitchen said goodbye from their open window as we left. We will most...
Read moreGiven the price of how much it is to eat here, the experience was overall subpar. The waitresses and kitchen seemed to not know how to time bringing out food - as our salads and appetizers were brought out at the same time. About 6 minutes later, our entrees were brought out while we were still eating. Additionally with the atmosphere, most people were all sat in the same small area but with a different waitperson assigned to every table.
The salads were rather small, and most of the lettuce in mine had freezer burn so it was bitter. While the taste of the brisket was fine, the cut and tenderness was not. No steak knife was provided to try and cut it into more manageable bites, but it wasn't nearly tender enough to eat with just a fork. The baked potato and New York Strip were solid (i.e. tasty) though.
For the service - our initial waitresses was incredibly difficult to hear, and was difficult to find for the first half of the meal. She also seemed to be rushing us. My spouse and I tried to ask a few waitresses for some kind of knife for my food, but all 4 we tried to talk to completely ignored us. One waitress was standing next to the kitchen, made eye contact with me, and when I tried to wave and ask she turned away. She and another waitress completely ignored my spouse and I when we were saying "Miss?" Until my spouse kept repeating themself, which was when one of them rolled their eyes but brought back a knife.
For the second half of our meal we had a waitress named Lou Dell who was very nice, and provided significantly...
Read moreFrom reading the reviews, I was expecting a decent steak dinner. Not so much. It's as if they were overwhelmed and unprepared for the rush of diners.
We waited in the adjoining bar while waiting to be seated. The bartender, when she finally came out from the back, never greeted us and we sure never had an opportunity to order any drinks. After almost 15 minutes of being ignored, and watching other folks get served, my friend insisted we wait in the restaurant lobby as we were definitely not going to be served. This should have been a clue and we should have left.
Service was slow but I will say our waitress was nice enough and appeared to be trying her best but the atmosphere and the food worked against her. Everyone in our group ordered steaks, 2 medium and 1 medium rare. The steaks all came out rare. Even after sending one of the steaks back for further time on the grill, it somehow still was rare.
I ate my rare steak, even though I ordered a medium, and found it very chewy (aged 40-days?) and had gristle. My dining partner never received his salad and odds were my other dining partner never had any alcohol in his hard Arnold Palmer (they called it a Tom Arnold).
Pretty...
