Newly remodeled Holiday Inn Express in Socorro, New Mexico. A very busy place, near the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Make your reservation quite a bit in advance if you plan to stay here. This hotel is located right downtown, where there are several restaurants for dinner. There is convenient and up close parking right in front. It is well lit and secure. There are inside elevators to the upper floors and an available business center, an indoor pool and spa, with a weight/exercise room. The staff was available for other needs. They also offer a convenience 'store' area where emergency/forgotten items are sold, and also a small selection of microwavable items for use in one's room. We stayed one night and found the hotel very clean and comfortable, with all the amenities one could wish. We stayed before covid, so if this area is on your agenda now, you should make sure that what you need in the area of amenities is still available. The best way to do this is to call the hotel directly.

Room was clean upon arrival. Room was never cleaned during the five night stay. First night the sheets were changed then never again, trash wasn't taken out and towels weren't changed during extent of stay. Breakfast was fine. The shower wasn't great because the head leaked and it robbed the shower head of pressure. Buddy staying with me on the trip in a different room had the sheets changed on the first night and found a blood stain on one of the new sheets

Updated: We recently stayed at the hotel again. Definitely needs some updating and maintenance. Previous: The Holiday Inn Express did a nice job of cleanliness and social distancing. They provide a hot breakfast (breakfast sandwich) as well as cold options. Fresh fruit was also available. The beds were comfortable. Reasonable lighting and outlets. Friendly staff.

A Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience with Customer Service at Holiday Inn Express Socorro||I have been a loyal IHG Rewards member for 15 years and have consistently had positive experiences at Holiday Inn Express locations—until now. The level of unprofessionalism and outright dismissive customer service I encountered before even arriving at the Holiday Inn Express in Socorro, New Mexico, was beyond unacceptable.||In December, I booked a reservation at this location, but the staff member who assisted me mistakenly set it for the same day instead of the correct date two months later. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch this error immediately. When I later realized the mistake and called to rectify the situation, I was met with outright refusal to help, a lack of professionalism, and a complete disregard for customer service standards.||Compounding the issue, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, I attempted to contact the hotel to address the reservation problem, but their phone systems were down for nearly 24 hours. While I understand that technical issues can occur, this outage significantly hindered communication and added to the stress and complexity of the situation.||When I finally reached the front desk representative, she refused to let me speak with a manager and flatly stated that I would not be refunded for the no-show charge. When I requested that my reservation be corrected, she initially refused—only to suddenly change her stance after I mentioned escalating the issue to IHG corporate. This alone was troubling, but her behavior quickly escalated.||She accused me of being “entitled” and “rude”, which could not be further from the truth. I never raised my voice, never used inappropriate language, and was seated in front of a colleague who was listening to the entire conversation and can confirm my professionalism. When I mentioned that my colleague was listening, she dismissively responded, “Well, he’s going to be on your side anyway,” rather than addressing the issue professionally.||After considerable back and forth, she reluctantly rebooked my reservation—only for it to mysteriously disappear from the system the next day. Whether this was an act of spite or further incompetence, it is simply inexcusable.||This experience occurred before I even set foot in the hotel, and I have never encountered this level of dismissiveness and hostility from an IHG property before.||I do not believe one unprofessional employee is necessarily ||||representative of an entire hotel or brand, but this experience severely tarnishes my trust in this location and, by extension, IHG’s standards for customer service. While I have no desire for this individual to lose their job, it is abundantly clear that they should not be working in a role that requires direct customer interaction.||At this point, the only way I would ever consider staying at this location is if I were assured that this staff member was no longer employed there and that the management had taken steps to improve its professionalism. A Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience with Customer Service at Holiday Inn Express Socorro

I have been a loyal IHG Rewards member for 15 years and have consistently had positive experiences at Holiday Inn Express locations—until now. The level of unprofessionalism and outright dismissive customer service I encountered before even arriving at the Holiday Inn Express in Socorro, New Mexico, was beyond unacceptable.

In December, I booked a reservation at this location, but the staff member who assisted me mistakenly set it for the same day instead of the correct date two months later. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch this error immediately. When I later realized the mistake and called to rectify the situation, I was met with outright refusal to help, a lack of professionalism, and a complete disregard for customer service standards.

Compounding the issue, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, I attempted to contact the hotel to address the reservation problem, but their phone systems were down for nearly 24 hours. While I understand that technical issues can occur, this outage significantly hindered communication and added to the stress and complexity of the situation.

When I finally reached the front desk representative, she refused to let me speak with a manager and flatly stated that I would not be refunded for the no-show charge. When I requested that my reservation be corrected, she initially refused—only to suddenly change her stance after I mentioned escalating the issue to IHG corporate. She accused me of being “entitled” and “rude”, which could not be further from the truth. I never raised my voice, never used inappropriate language, and was seated in front of a colleague who was listening to the entire conversation and can confirm my professionalism. When I mentioned that my colleague was listening, she dismissively responded, “Well, he’s going to be on your side anyway,” rather than addressing the issue professionally.

After considerable back and forth, she reluctantly rebooked my reservation—only for it to mysteriously disappear from the system the next day. Whether this was an act of spite or further incompetence, it is simply inexcusable.

This experience occurred before I even set foot in the hotel, and I have never encountered this level of dismissiveness and hostility from an IHG property before.

I do not believe one unprofessional employee is necessarily representative of an entire hotel or brand, but this experience severely tarnishes my trust in this location and, by extension, IHG’s standards for customer service. While I have no desire for this individual to lose their job, it is abundantly clear that they should not be working in a role that requires direct customer interaction.

At this point, the only way I would ever consider staying at this location is if I were assured that this staff member was no longer employed there and that the management had taken steps to improve its professionalism. The hotel is clean, however the doors to the rooms make a loud noise when they close due to a design flaw. Prepare to be woken up numerous times throughout the night and early mornings. The breakfast is good, and obviously free so that's even better. First responders beware! Whether you are there for training or staying at the hotel due to a nearby fire you must know this; there is a woman who works the reception desk late nights who is extremely rude and clearly doesn't like Law First Responders! While we were there she complained about some of the noise we were making on the outside patio. (For the record, the noise consisted of people laughing, sharing stories about their jobs). She actually called the local police to come, and when they did, they snuck up on us to see what her fuss was about. They actually told us that we were not bothering any of the guests, and that the complaint came from her. They left and told us to have a good night! They were "Extremely professional." Minutes later a women claiming to be the general manager showed up, and acted like she drove 100 miles an hour to get to the hotel as if it were under attack! She ended up being the mother of the women at the front desk! Without going into too much detail, the general manager stated that they don't feel comfortable with all the first responders there! I was taken a back and disgusted by her comments! If it wasn't for the local college and the training conducted there, she would have no job and neither would her staff. The first responders are the bread and butter of her town and are always respectful. If I knew her disgust for law enforcement and other first responders such as fireman, I would have booked another hotel for my stay. I plan on contacting the FOP and IAFF to let them know what was said. I also plan on contacting Holiday Inn Corporate. If I were you, I would stay somewhere else. They do not deserve...
