We visited Stumphouse Tunnel & then came here. From the parking area, it was a short walk to the falls. We only saw it from the top because we didn't want to hike to the bottom. But there were a few picnic areas w/ grills as we entered. There was a creek right there also. It was about ankle deep. I sat there for a few minutes just enjoying the sights & sounds. Then we noticed a stir in a small group of people & them pointing to the creek. It was a snake in the water & was trying to swim right toward them on the bank. Someone threw a small stick & the snake turned & slowly swam down the creek. My husband said it was a copperhead best he could tell. After danger was over I noticed some pretty rocks in the water, so I pulled my jeans up a little & wandered in. Awww, it was so cool & refreshing. After a few I came out & we walked a few feet over a small bridge to the falls. What we could see from the top was pretty as most of the creek ran down to the falls. The water flowing was loud but nice and the water very cool. There were more people there than I had anticipated, yet. Not crowded & not one person wearing a mask which was nice. No one seemed concerned in the least & no one was actively practicing social distancing which was fine by me. We stayed for an hour or so then left for our trip back home in Ga. I'm sure they had restrooms but I don't remember any really standing out. But anyone should enjoy...

This is a great place for those who want to see all nature's beauty, but may not be physically capable or interested in hiking. There is a parking area close to the overlook with great views of the falls. There are sitting areas and outdoor restrooms. They also have a charming covered bridge on the pathway. There is a small brook for the little ones to play in and some beautiful plantlife not found in any other areas. And for those who prefer to hike or be a little more athletic there are also some trails leading down to the bottom of the falls. I would suggest making a visit after a good rain storm, since thats when waterfalls have the most beautiful cascades. And with all waterfalls, if you choose to hike please be cautious. I would hate to loose access to these beautiful places because someone decided they were sylvester stalone from...
ย ย ย Read moreThe first part of the trail is an easy, quick jaunt from the parking lot to the top of the falls. The falls are gorgeous, though water flow was a bit low Thanksgiving weekend. I had hoped that on Black Friday everyone would be so busy shopping we'd have the place to ourselves, but no such luck; it was packed.
To the side of the viewing platform is the trail down to the base of the falls, and it's narrow and very steep--almost a scramble trail, but a long way down for such a steep descent. Normally, I'm game, but not today. There were just too many people on the narrow trail. We'd be getting over every five seconds. Pretty disappointing.
We went into the tunnel, and that was pretty cool, though, again, crowded. It was amazing to think it was all chipped out by hand.
After that we found the trail between the tunnel and the falls and walked for a bit. It's a lovely...
