This place is unbelievable! Whether you are a cigar smoker or not, the renovation of the building (all done by Julia herself) is pure magic and utterly brilliant (chef's kiss). While the beautiful environment will draw you in, the leather/oak/old bookstore smell will certainly keep you there just lingering for one last smell. Do NOT leave here without buying their signature candle so you can also make your own home smell this brilliantly! I have two small kids and this candle makes me feel like I am living in a well kept house (LOL). As for Julia and Robert, they are hands down two of the most genuine people you will meet. We held a private event for over 20 people in their lounge and they made everything so effortless. The space was arranged that made the whole evening flow and they were extremely accommodating when more of our guest arrived with appetizers than we had planned for. They quickly rearranged their bar area and had everything setup as if nothing was unplanned and it all just magically came together. I'm so grateful for what they have curated and brought to our community. If you want to go somewhere and feel like family, this is definitely the spot! Nothing here is rushed here and time literally slows down while you are in LW. The passion these two hold for both cigars and their community is unmatched.

Leatherwood Handmade Cigars is not just a shop, it is an unexpected & beautiful experience. St. James is full of gems hidden in the middle of small town Missouri, and Leatherwood just makes the town even more unique and special. Robert and Julia have so much knowledge and passion about what they do, and they show how much they truly care about helping each patron select the perfect product based off of your tastes.

There is a huge selection of cigars, some of which are very rare. If you do not like cigars, they also have the best smelling candles and other products that are all beautifully arranged. I honestly would be surprised if you could not find something in this shop that you would either love for yourself or as a gift for someone else.

There is a “secret” lounge in the back, which is one of the coolest rooms I have ever been in. It was designed and built by the owners themselves, and every single thing in the room fits so perfectly and it gives you classy Great Gatsby vibes. They also occasionally have events with other restaurants/bars around town that will come in and serve drinks behind the beautiful bar in the lounge.
