Obbink Distilling — Local services in St. Joseph

Delicious, interesting, and reasonably priced cocktails! Mr. Obbink was there introducing himself to everyone, the staff was friendly, and we got to sample a whiskey while in line. The inside is fairly small and a little loud so we sat outside. The yard is big with fluffy grass and lots of adirondack chairs. The only negative part of the experience was how long we had to wait in line - about 45 minutes. It made us not want to stay longer and get another cocktail, which was a shame because we wanted to sample more things. However, we were there the third day it was opened so maybe it will get better! Atmosphere and staff where great. This is not a place for a whiskey aficionado. Folks in my group who had the sweeter fruitier drinks seemed to enjoy them. For me, the whiskey neat as well as the old fashioned were not to my liking. This is not unique to Obbink and is the same issue other craft distillers face. You can’t rush whiskey. Unique experience to try specialized cocktails. Whiskey options were our favorite and the 25% off bottle special was a nice surprise. Only issue is there is not a huge space indoors and I’m curious how packed it will be in the winter when they can’t utilize the outdoor space. Will be back again and hopefully able to...
