I really wanted to like Matheny Ford. I found exact truck I was looking for at a decent price. Unfortunately, its in the details in which a dealership can shine or bomb. We live roughly 7 hours away, so we did most of the upfront work remotely. Once everything seemed likely, I scheduled a day to drive to the dealership with my family and check out the vehicle. The test drive went fine and we started the purchasing process. Overall, purchasing went fine, but took a lot more time that it probably should have given I was already pre-approved and the dealership had all of my particulars. Pulling out of the dealership is when the problems started. The check engine light immediately came on and I returned to the dealership. Long story - short, there were problems, but I was assured the dealership make them right, the problem was not significant, so go ahead and drive home and send them the results and they would cover the repairs. Needless to say, at that point, I was screwed. An O2 sensor was bad, the catalytic converter was bad and inappropriate for the truck even though the WV inspection said it met the standards. I never got reimbursed for anything (roughly $3000 in repairs), and have essentially been ghosted by the dealership. ...
Read moreI was glad to see this dealership had a lot of good reviews and I was reluctant to pull them down with mine... but people need to know. They had a 7 year old truck listed on their site that I was interested in. The AutoCheck report showed it was in Canada for 7 years. The dealer was 3.5 hrs away from me so I called and asked "is there anything I need to know" kind of questions and I got the standard used car salesman answers. I specifically said I was asking because it came from Canada and the salesman replied they reset everything for USA measures, it passed WV inspection, blah, blah, blah. Well, I drove to see the truck and immediately noticed the horribly rusted frame recently covered with black paint. It really would have been nice for the salesman to inform me of the underbody rust and what they tried to do about it before I drove 7 hours (round trip) to see it. My husband and I have purchased and serviced our vehicles at the Ford dealership in St. Mary’s for many years. They have always been kind, helpful, compassionate and honest. Since my husband’s death, it is up to me to keep my vehicle serviced. As a widow, I feel safe taking my vehicle to Matheny Ford. There are places who will take advantage of a woman, but not here. Recently I took my vehicle in for a recall, but I also asked for a quote on the price of a trim piece and labor. They fixed the trim piece and didn’t charge me. This meant more than I can express.
