Dollar General — Local services in Stanhope

I usually go to this location very often (I coupon a lot) and I have NEVER had a bad experience. However, I was there a few days ago and it made me not want to go back. I was with my friend shopping for their clearance blowout sale and some items didn’t have prices on them. I took them in my cart full of items and when I reached the counter- there was a new girl that I have never seen (she was very sweet) and then there was another lady working with her (I may have seen her one other time). Now since I am a frequent shopper, I know that it is better to have them price check the items then for them to void it. I have been to many dollar generals and they all tell me the same. So since I had unmarked items in my cart I simply asked for price checks and if it was too pricey, I asked for them to be put back. The lady that was looking over the new girl said to me “this is ridiculous, now we have to put them back”. So my friend and I both said that we had no problem putting them back. She said “you’re not gonna do that”. I didn’t want an argument so I just let it go. And then as we are going on with my cart FULL of items she was like “you are taking two cashiers times”. Again I did not want to start a problem so I let it go. We left but she really got on my nerves for no reason. I have never in my life had a bad experience with an employee anywhere before. She could have had a bad day but she could have been nicer. She didn’t have to stay by the near girl because she clearly knew how to use the register....

Never seen such a mess of a store! We have one here in Blairstown that is very well organized. This one in Stanhope is a disaster. There is no "clothing" section - I was looking for a t-shirt and the clothes are in all different places hanging around the store. Ladies bras and underwear hanging all over a rack near the front; could not even find other womens clothes. The mens clothes are stashed somewhere in a middle aisle, etc I needed an Ace ankle brace - our Dollar General has them and this one didn't even have a place for it. A lot of the shelf spaces for the first aid stuff were empty. The store was messy, completely disorganized and not what you would expect from a chain store. I ended up paying $10 for a charger that was marked $7. I would not go to...

First off I live in this town and my family here to stay. I been to this store three times and 2 out 3 was a horrible experience the young lady was patient with my youngest daughter while she figured out how my she had to pay out her purse 👛. But this last time am just in disappointment, the store manager Brian was not aware of the store policy and how to fix the issue. I should never have to drive to blairstown or hillside just to shop at a dollar general because of my shade of color.
