Netcong Hardware Co. — Local services in Stanhope

I walked into this store today for the first time to browse, but it was so refreshing to easily find things for some of my projects.

Normally, I go to Lowe's or Home Depot, realize they don't have something I need, get frustrated trying to get help, and then finally realize that the leadership at these massive corporations only care about how they will show growth this quarter instead of being there for their customers. This is the reason stores like Netcong Hardware still exist. They manage a great customer experience that you just can't get at a big box store despite having a tiny fraction of the resources. On top of that they still manage to have what you need despite being about the same size as a single aisle of the bigger stores.

Called the store and ordered a gallon of paint. When I got to the store there was a sign stating pick up orders in back so I went around back and got on line at least 6 feet apart. The salesperson came out and helped the person in front of me, when he was done the salesperson gave my a look I guess cause I was wearing a mask. He went back in the store walked around for a while as I could see inside. Never came out to help me. After about 10-15 minutes another patron got in line behind me and a minute later that same salesperson walked right by me and handed this person his order. The last time I went to Netcong Hardware was maybe 10-15 years ago. Staff was very helpful finding what I wanted, and the store had a very old-school vibe even back then. But I remember buying concrete blocks for a science fair project WAAAY back when I was a kid and Netcong Hardware was still in Netcong on Maple Street where Family Ford is now.
