Total scam. Had the 6-month PT contract, paid ALL 6 monthly payments. Froze my membership bc I don't even live here anymore. Randomly started sending me emails that I have an outstanding balance. Started charging my card without telling me what for. Verified via my bank account that all payments were made. Asked them to tell me what the charges are for. NO response. Called. Spoke to front desk guy who was nice but had to refer me to his manager. Manager had no idea what was going on. Kept asking what the charges are for and she kept avoiding the question and just said I owe $288?!?! Still don't know what that amount is for. Said she would call me back. As I was moving out of Starkville, I had cancelled my Membership back in January this year at the front desk and pretty sure the reception staff cancelled it in front of me and informed me that the membership would end by end of January 2018. However, my account got charged the membership fee in february as well as March. February can be understandable as there is always a month of advance notice required for cancellation, but March membership fees was also charged. When confronted with the accounts team, they say they do not have any records of me cancelling the membership in their system and they are not willing to refund me the money charged. I loved the club and its facilities, but their response to this situation is totally not acceptable. How anyone is supposed to know that they would have to fill out a cancellation request. I have been a member here since 2019. Recently, I was inquiring about downgrading from $20/mo to $10/mo and was told that if I did so, that I would be paying a $89 downgrade fee, and I would be locked into a year contract. I have never heard of a ādowngrade feeā in my life. That is an awesome way to patronize your customers by penalizing them when they need to downgrade since everything is so expensive now at days. I need to pay for groceries, now I have to pay yāall $89?? Not only that, as of recently the cleanliness is subpar. The bathrooms smell like a fish market, and everything is sticky. When youāre out on the floor, it smells bad as well. I consistently never see employees cleaning, just talking and cutting up at the front.
