Like everyone, we had jewelry boxes full of rings, chains, charms etc that hadn't been worn in years. Knowing that they had to be worth something, but no idea how much and what to do with them was the big question. There are so many options, pawn shops, jewelry stores, cash for gold places it's all quite confusing for the uninitiated. We took two pieces of the jewelry (rings) that we knew to be fairly expensive to a jeweler who we had purchased items from in the past and is quite reputable but does not deal in buying. They gave us an idea of what the items were worth and what we could expect to get for them. Armed with this information we tried several places. We started by looking on line and tried those with the highest ratings. Not getting what we were told the items were worth we declined their offers. Previously living in Sterling I had heard good things about Sterling Rare Coin. I did not know if they bought items but we headed there and thought what's the harm in asking. What a great experience. We were giving what we told we could expect for the items, one item more than we were told to expect. I can highly recommend this location....

Found this location online and was immediately impressed with its looks. We had some silver dollars that were just sitting in a drawer and wondered their worth. I made an appointment (recommended) and Tom, the owner welcomed us. Within minutes he had looked over the coins and gave an estimate to which we were pleasantly surprised. His presentation was ‘no pressure’ to make a decision right then and there which we appreciated. He interspersed a little history when going over what coins we had and indicated that none of them were sought after by collectors; ours would be valued solely by silver content. The entire experience was indeed one of professionalism, he showed much knowledge and expertise thus gaining our trust. In addition, his shop was clean neat and tidy; a further merit to his vocation. I would not hesitate to use his services again and recommend this business...

Brought some coins,bills & jewelry of my grandfather's to Matt and OMG...I was amazed. I scheduled an appt (easy), sat with Matt & spent well over an hour discussing what I had. I learned SOO much from the piggy bank I was using to what a 2000yr old coin looks like. I wasnt planning on selling my coins really however some I wasn't going to need later on for my kids. So knowing the price beforehand of precious metals, Matt also offered me extremely fair pricing for my items. At the end of the appt, I actually presented Matt with the bank as a token of friendship.
