TL;DR: Came here to have my laptop monitor replaced, but they had insufficient skill to perform the job. They refused to try, saying it would cost $4-500 if they did, then they tried to sell me a new laptop instead. I was able to fix it my myself in an hour and a half for about $80. 'Manager' was also unprofessional. I reached out to this business when I was having issues with my laptop monitor. I waited four days for them to be able to look at it.

When I dropped it off and came back, the young man said that it was 'too much' for him to attempt to fix. He said if he did try, it'd take hours, and cost me $4-500.

He then offered to sell me a laptop for around the same cost. When I asked if it had the same hardware as mine, he said he wasn't sure…Why ask if you're not sure? I'm not interested in purchasing a downgrade…

They require a $50 deposit for looking at your machine. When it came time to return it, the young man was unable to figure out how to work the credit card machine. I had to wait while he got the 'manager.'

The 'manager' eventually came out, clearly frustrated, explaining to him how to process my deposit refund. After the manager left, he still couldn't figure it out, and asked if I could go get my credit card so that he could scan it and provide me with a refund at a later time. I think this is a bit inappropriate to ask of a customer. I'd rather not have a copy of my credit card lying around…

I was in a rush, so I went and got my credit card. When I came back, the 'manager' came out again, tried the refund himself, and was able to get it to work so that I didn't have to let them scan my credit card. Again, he was obviously frustrated with the young man.

It's worth noting that both times the 'manager' came out, I was standing a few feet away from him, and neither time did he look at me or acknowledge my existence. As I said, he also had a negative attitude towards the young man. You would expect the manager of a business to lead by example and show basic courtesy to their customers , but both times he came out with a crummy attitude and acted like I wasn't there. It's not that I can't handle the slight, but I just feel this is unbefitting of a manager (and even worse, likely owner).

I went home that night and decided to at least try to fix it on my own, since the young man made it sound like the alternative was replacing my laptop. I found a matching monitor for my laptop for about $70, and bought the adhesive required for $8.

I have minimal experience with computer repair, but when the parts came in, I was able to perform the repair in under an hour and a half on my own by following a Youtube tutorial. If I tried it again, I'm sure I could probably do it in a third of the time.

Basically, all this business did was waste my time and tried to sell me a laptop. I will not go back there again.

My suggestion for them is that you have insufficient skill to perform a task, you take the extra time to learn it and charge the customer for how long it should have taken rather than leaving the customer to hang out to dry.
